Ung Jury
Sebastian on the Ung trial. He notes it’s pretty much a law-abiding carry permit holder’s worst nightmare.
Ung handled the situation better than most would have. He tried to leave. He didn’t draw until attacked. And he kicked his attackers before resorting to shooting. All around, good job. Open and shut case if Ung had been attacked by some random mugger. Shooting the son of a well-connected man, however, made Ung’s life hard. Pressing charges against Ung in this case is the affluent white people’s version of my baby dint do nuffin. Should have never gone to trial and the prosecutor should be tarred and feathered.
All that said, DiDonato was ultimately shot for being a douchebag who was too stupid to quit when he should have. I guess he had something to prove. All he proved was that he wasn’t bullet proof.

Good and just outcome, but Ung made plenty of mistakes too. Going to a bar. Going to a bar armed. Getting drunk at a bar while armed. Lacking verbal descelation skills. Not complying with the police when they showed up.
It is probably true that DiDonato was connected and that’s why Ung had to go to trial. But none of those other things helped.
Incidentally, in Oklahoma I would have gong to trial for multiple felonies and lost big time. Gun laws are weird.

@ tracker: The cop he is accused of not cooperating with, if I heard correctly, was an off duty cop in plainclothes who was working as a rent a cop at a nearby bar.
In a shooting incident with me versus multiple attackers, I probably would not cooperate with someone in plainclothes claiming to be a cop, either unless he or she could prove it, but the only problem is that the only way for the plainclothes person who is running into the fight to prove he is a cop is to reach into his pocket to get his badge/ID as he approaches. Not a wise move while the person who you are approaching is in the middle of a gunfight.

I hadn’t heard the details about the cop. If plainclothes then I too can understand being hesitant.

“Going to a bar” is a mistake?
