More on the discussion of 1911 v. whatever polymer gun is hot today. If you like shooting 1911s, then shoot 1911s.
The comfort sling. I like the idea but it’s just one more thing to strap on in the morning.
Some folks probably don’t know their guns were stolen. In other news, who stores guns in self storage?
The must have item mentioned a bit back? I got one. It’s a fine toy but the USB drive doesn’t work. I’ll have to return it. So sad.
Update: Seller has awesome customer service. A new one is on its way.
The editor of the local newspaper says that when we anonymous bloggers point out that unsigned editorials are anonymous, we’re wrong because they’re not anonymous. Because they’re not unsigned, they’re signed by everyone. I don’t buy this collective mind nonsense. Someone wrote it. Not all of you. If you think we’re dumb enough to buy that, you’re wrong. If you think it indicates someone is responsible or accountable, you’re also wrong.
Interesting article in the WaPo about gun ownership there since the historic Heller decision. The affluent are buying guns. The poor likely can’t afford DC’s onerous costs to gun ownership. The WaPo has no problem telling it’s readers which neighborhoods have the legal guns.
A look at the claims about the ‘gun lobby’ buying congress. The anti-gun folks and the press (but I repeat myself) really don’t understand grassroots, since they have none.
A court order signed this week prohibits the distribution of pamphlets or leaflets meant to influence jurors outside the Orange and Osceola courthouses.
The administrative order, signed by Chief Judge Belvin Perry on Monday, has sparked a fresh free-speech debate that could lead to legal challenges, questioning whether the order amounts to a “prior restraint” or a form of censorship.
The issue stems from representatives of the national nonprofit organization Fully Informed Jury Association distributing what they call jury “education” information outside the Orange County Courthouse.
Can’t have the proles judging the law or being made aware that they can.
But if you feel the need to justify a need for having high capacity magazines, I’d say stopping a crowd from hacking three people to death qualifies.
Jeff: You’re in Kansas, at a gun show attended by thousands of people. Outside, eight sad folks (judging by the video) protest. Who gets the news time?
I’ve said before that I really have no use for manual safety devices on handguns. If I want it to go bang, I pull the trigger. No switches, gizmos, doodads, or other extraneous things to fumble with in a high stress situation. But if you’re going to have a gun with manual safeties, it’s best to be trained to use it:
[Victim] says she tried to shoot intruder, gun wouldn’t go off
The gun, as it turned out, had three separate safety mechanisms. She said Holman grabbed the barrel, and the two became locked in a struggle over the weapon. But as seconds passed with no sounds from her husband, she gave up.
Not sure what gun that would be. The article shows the murderer’s gun to be a Ruger.
Know how the weapons in your house work.
Interesting self defense shooting, with video. Seems a pretty clear cut case. If you’re attacked by three people, use of force is justified. Being that it was caught on video, it’ll make for an interesting court case based on testimony of the guys who attacked the shooter. And, of course, when the police show up and ask for your weapon, you give it to them.
They deny the allegations that they authorized smuggling guns into Mexico. And have lawyered up.
Looks like their owner is under indictment for violating the Arms Export Control Act. Now, this could be something big, like guns to the UK. But it could also be nothing, like exporting a few springs, optics, or gun parts. After all, ITT was fined under the act for exporting night vision and Boeing was fined for exporting a microchip.
House doesn’t re-authorize parts of the PATRIOT act, way to go GOP. It will probably pass, ultimately, but someone tried.
Obama says he didn’t raise taxes, which is only true if you believe he let the laws pass without signing them. Politifact calls him on it.
In Tennessee, Stacey Campfield has introduced a bill. No co-sponsors yet, no similar house bill. The bill allows those who are not prohibited persons to carry firearms, permit or no. I do like the idea of the HCP being and endorsement on your drivers license. Carrying around an extra card is a minor annoyance when wallet space is at a premium.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
