Granny takes handbag to robbers. Thwarts them. It’s in England, so she’ll probably go to jail.
Sebastian interviews Director of NRA-ILA’s Research and Information Division on the topic.
US Army looking to get sound suppressors for the troops. They found the AAC Blackout good at minimizing flash. But a sound suppressor would work much better. Honestly, if they were standard issue, it would be a good thing.
NC alcohol ninjas got some new Kimber 1911 pistols. And they’re not very reliable so they’re getting rid of them after dropping a chunk of change. And, in a must read from Tam, she talks about Kimber “customs”, slaughtering a few sacred cows.
Mocking gun rights by comparing them to flamethrowers. Except that flamethrowers are not regulated, at least federally. They’re just squirtguns, after all. Some states regulate them though.
Wait, yes there are:
As the movement to eliminate tenure takes hold, it’s worth asking advocates for dismissal of incompetent teachers whether they think that teachers are the only underperforming public-sector workers. Do they also favor more dismissals of subpar police officers and firefighters?
Yes. Would you rather incompetent firefighters come put out your house?
The Republican-led House this week will push through legislation aimed at making government rules and regulations less burdensome for business, setting up a standoff with President Obama over some of his key initiatives, including the new health care law, and testing Obama’s efforts to appear more business friendly. The House measure, scheduled for a vote Thursday, would require committees “to inventory and review existing, pending, and proposed regulations” and the rules’ effect on jobs and economic growth.
The bill has passed the house. In WA, you can own suppressors and put them on your guns. You just can’t use them.
Woman who runs sex toy shop wants folks to turn in guns in exchange for sex toys.
I tell my conservative friends that, no, Obama is not a commie. He’s just a Chicago politician. It’s getting difficult to offer that weak defense when he says stuff like this and this.
Probably not a good idea to have a guy who quit after caught fudging a police report serve as your law enforcement training staff. Overcash arrested some kid for contempt of cop and lied about it. Not good.
From Insty, comes word that Chrysler shelled out $9M in Superbowl ads and is now calling for more taxpayer money. They say they’re paying shyster rates. I’m pretty sure that $9M would have made a payment on that $15B you owe me.
Between car companies and Tennessee Lottery ads, I paid for quite a bit of Superbowl advertising.
We’re winning. Keep winning.
If you read one thing today, read this by Kevin Baker:
The renormalization of firearms in American culture is proceeding apace.
Like I say, we’re winning on TV because guns are fucking cool.
Why 33 rounds makes sense in a defensive weapon. A good read. I’m surprised it’s in the WaPo.
To change minds:
As this newspaper’s Editorial Page editor in 2004, whenever I wrote a negative opinion piece about concealed carry, it got support from some readers who shared the same feeling, but it also got a flood of responses countering my arguments. The response from gun supporters was loud and spirited, to put it politely, and full of factual information. And the difference between opinion based on “feeling” and opinion based on fact, over time, made all the difference in changing my viewpoint.
That’s Tom Skoch, editor of The Morning Journal.
Via John, a nudist camp doesn’t want a shooting range opening up next to it, citing noise and pollution. This is why suppressors shouldn’t be so stringently regulated and taxed so heavily. Then, you don’t annoy your neighbors.
Suppress your guns, it’s the neighborly thing to do.
Speaking of, potential movement on the WA suppressor bill.
Why would the comment period be extended beyond the generous 2.5 weeks they originally gave us for public input? Could it be because of this?
Records obtained via a Freedom of Information Act about the ATF multi rifle sale registration scheme show only 9 people supported ATF, and only one of those people submitted comments on time. Meanwhile, hundreds of comments were lodged opposing the scheme.
Grassroots works.
Especially while reholstering:
A Secret Service agent assigned to protect Nancy Reagan is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the hip at a sheriff’s department shooting range.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
