Gay as choice

Aunt B. on Why would anyone choose to be gay?

A couple of things. Anyone who thinks that being gay is a choice probably doesn’t know any gay people. Choosing to be gay would also mean you choose to be straight. And that’s just silly. I like women. Can’t help it. I’m wired that way.

Brightly Colored Guns

In Cali, they’re concerned about their popularity. If a gun shaped object is pointed at me, I’ll presume it is one and react accordingly.

High Capacity Clip

Heh.

Case gets stranger by the minute

A bit back, a carry permit holder was shot by a bunch of police in a CostCo for, uhm, I don’t really know why. One of the officers involved is now under investigation for giving a gun to a felon.

By the time I get to Arizona

The Arizona AG is not pleased with Bloomberg’s publicity stunt.

When zero tolerance meets diversity

Diversity wins:

The Plymouth-Canton school district (near Detroit) has reached a momentous decision. They have decided that the First Amendment requires them to allow Sikh students to carry their ceremonial dagger, called a Kirpan, to school.

But in some schools, a paring knife for your apple gets you expelled.

Amnesty

In Scotland, police call for airgun amnesty.

Cairo v. New Orleans

In Cairo, the army informs people anyone with an illegal weapon should not worry and should use it.

During unrest in Katrina, the local government took legal weapons from people.

Win a gun

Guns for Sale is giving away a Ruger SR40.

Speaking of pocket carry

Six pocket pistols under $450

Pocket Carry Competition Association

With the increased popularity, this is a good idea:

With pocket guns being the most popular firearm carried for many years because of their convenient size and weight PCCA was created to give people that carry real world concealed pocket guns a place to practice in a realistic defense scenario based shooting sport.

Should you carry with a chambered round

Good illustration. Honestly, this is one of those questions I’m surprised is even debated. My carry guns, all of them, operate in two modes go and no go. No cycling, so safeties, no extraneous gizmos. If I want it to go bang, I pull the trigger. If not, I don’t touch it.

Squirt gun control

In Hawaii. Gotta indoctrinate those kids early.

Keep your booger hook off the bang switch

In three months, the NYPD has had three negligent discharges.

A look at another anti-gun bill

A federal bill to restrict concealed carry. The Boxer bill looks to make other states more like Cali.

We’re winning

If the supposed resurgence in support for gun control is real, why are gun control groups closing their offices?

ATF allowing guns into Mexico

It’s budget time. We’ve been hearing about it for a while. But, via Alan, this is the first mention of it in the US press that I have seen:

A U.S. senator is examining a claim that two guns sold in purchases sanctioned by federal firearms agents were later used in a December shootout that left a Border Patrol agent dead near the Arizona-Mexico border.

Republican Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa said in a letter provided Monday to The Associated Press he had received information that appears to partially corroborate the claim received by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee about the guns.

This could get interesting.

Political Science

Senator Chuck Schumer (D – ranged) says the three branches of government are the house, the senate and the president. And we should pay down the debt ceiling. I really hope he misspoke and is actually not that stupid. But you never know.

If the .gov can make you buy health insurance

Heh:

Five South Dakota lawmakers have introduced legislation that would require any adult 21 or older to buy a firearm “sufficient to provide for their ordinary self-defense.”

Says a cosponsor:

“Do I or the other cosponsors believe that the State of South Dakota can require citizens to buy firearms? Of course not. But at the same time, we do not believe the federal government can order every citizen to buy health insurance,” he said.

Now, I do find it amusing but, really, is this something elected officials should be spending time on?

Update: Glenn has more, noting it’s not as silly as it seems.

Goodman shows require NICS checks

Interesting:

Goodman-promoted gun shows now require background checks
Sales between individuals at the events are exempt from the new rule.

That sounds exactly like how federal law works. But:

Bill Goodman Gun and Knife Shows have tightened rules governing who can buy guns at Hara Arena and other Goodman shows.

Background checks of buyers are required by licensed and non-licensed vendors selling guns at the shows promoted by Goodman, company officials confirmed Monday.

“All vendors who have any firearms on display must display a ‘Background Checks Required’ signage provided by the promoter,” according to new guidelines posted online by Goodman.

So if an individual gets a table to sell some of their guns, they have to do checks. I don’t know that many individuals are set up to do checks.

Sex Sells

Even if you’re not sure you’re selling.

Yesterday, I noticed a blogger had an ad on their site for one of those have an affair sites. Then, as if they knew I noticed, I got an email notification that they submitted the same ad (visible at your left, can’t miss it – unless you use an ad blocker) to this site. I clicked on over to blogads unsure if I was going to accept or reject the ad. But leaning toward reject. Not really sure how such an ad would go over to a bunch of gun nuts. I did not approve it and the ad disappeared from the queue.

Imagine my surprise when I notice the ad is actually in my sidebar this morning, without me approving it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
