I always liked these, and was sad that Springfield had to stop production (although they were pretty expensive!). I found what I feel is a better replacement in my Savage Model 24 C, which is a .22LR over 20 Gauge in a handy, take down “Camper” model. It has a handy storage space in the butt which will hold 12 .22s and 1 20 gauge, but I store it in a floating case with several extras. I also have subcaliber adapters in 9mm and .38/.357 which install in the 20 Gauge barrel, making it a four caliber survival gun.
I have one of these I bought at a show a decade or so ago, it wasn’t very expensive, maybe $150? I’m glad I grabbed it, as the only ones I’ve seen since then have been considerably more than that. One of the really nice things about it is if you push the hinge pin out it’ll easily store in a small backpack, so it’s pretty good for a GOOD situation. Shoots within minute of rabbit within 50 yards or so with iron sights. I haven’t used the shotgun barrel nearly as much, though I’ve read you can stick a 45 long colt in there and have it work. Not sure about pressures and such so I haven’t done that.
