I like Will & his daughter; the guys in the shop are OK. Yes, a lot of it– including the projects– is contrived, but it’s a lot better than 99% of the schlock on TV. I’ll tell you what, it’s better than this season’s Top Shot, what with the lousy shooting and inane, shouting host on the latter.
I really enjoyed the flamethrower episode with the CMoH winner. That old Marine was still full of piss and vinegar even 70 years later. Hope I’m half that skippy when I hit that age.
I love watching them shoot suppressed firearms inside in a long closet. How cool would that be? “hey honey, be in to bed in a minute. Gone go empty a mag downrange in the living room, if ya know what I mean.”
It’s OK at best. Yes, some of the things they build and work on are cool.
Watching the owner open up on two of his gunsmiths in the shop with a blanks-only gun pissed me off. I don’t care how safe the gun is, that’s an incredibly stupid thing to do.
Not bad, but it’s kinda like watching a show about a shop that only works on Italian Supercars. Nice to look at, but I’ll probably never have the Bucks (nor the Political Connections) to do business with them.
I’ve tried hard to like it but it’s been a downhill affair. The episode where they modified a Browning 1919 to be fired from the shoulder really annoyed me…and really showed that they were pretty clueless about the weapon. It also would have been nice that instead of bragging about all the work they put into it, they would have admitted that at one point they gave up trying to convert it themselves and they simply bought a TNW Firearms kit (which is where I would have started) and screwed the parts on. Of course, it didn’t work correctly because something they had already done while trying to create their own conversion led to a drastically reduced rate of fire and the guy ended up with a Wile E. Coyote School of Gunsmithing special at the end of the show to get it working properly.
I’ve not watched the show, but I did read one gun enthusiast opinion of the show. The gist of what this person said (From what i remember) is that its going to convey a lot of incorrect information to non-gun-knowledgeable people due to the “reality show” method of delivery. Ie, they cut out information that would be critical in helping to educate the general public about firearms.
The cast is likable enough, but when he builds the short barreled suppressed shotgun, for the guy, says he’s the first one to ever suppress a shotgun, and on delivery says “it’ll be a couple of hours or paperwork” I want to tear my hair out. Also, they butchered a Thompson, which is unforgivable. And who knew that every single little parrish PD in LA was dangerous enough to need automatic weapons and Saiga’s mounted to their ARs?
Supposed to be showing experts professionally working on customer’s super high end products; ends up showing that they are not experts at all and that you shouldn’t waste your money with them.
Happily they modified a semi Thompson clone into full auto. Resentfully that’s something that only the cops can have done.
Their Ma Deuce episode was another such. They took a semi-sideplate kit and made an MG out of it. As a SOT they are allowed to make dealer samples, but if you are I were to do as they did… They don’t take near enough time explaining those realities to folks.

Not a bad show, if you can look past all of the reality show melodrama.
The shows with Will’s dealings with former Marines leave me a bit misty-eyed.

It’s okay. I enjoy the projects that they do, but I don’t really care for the cast.

I give the show a 5/10.

I’ve watched the show and … meh.
Seems like Will & the crew are half-assing it at best.

Reminds me a lot of “American Hot Rod”.
