Those signs have been up since early 2010: Arizona asked for Federal troops and big fence to secure our borders, what we got instead was a bunch of billboards.
Sunny Beach Sheet I live within a hundred miles of the boarder (south of Tucson) and hunt down near the boarder sometimes. I’ve had a couple of encounters with some very hungry, thirsty and worn out individuals, but no one that was ever really carrying anything other than a jug of water. Certainly none that have been armed or carrying bales of dope. Maybe I’ve been lucky so far. One thing is for sure, the Boarder Patrol has really stepped up patrols in the past couple years. This has had the effect of funneling the traffic though the roughest, most unforgiving, terrain here in AZ. Many people die crossing the desert every year, 141 were found a couple years ago, and it will probably only get worse. In Phoenix there is an average of one drug related kidnapping every day, and these often end badly. The problem is illegal drug money. Until we consider drug use/abuse a medical problem and treat it as such our law enforcement and jails will be over-stretched. What we need to do is reform our drug use/possesion policies to allow our govenment to make money by taxing it instead of spending billions a year fighting a never ending “war”.

I once had a job offer in a town right on the Rio Grande. I’m glad that I didn’t take it.

So does that mean if we see heavily armed drug convoys crossing our land we can shoot it out with them???
