The article fails to mention the legal force behind the sign, other than the Mayor pledging to use police to track down and bring back parents who leave minors unattended. IS there a law saying no unattended minors in the park, or is this just the Mayor’s say-so?
Would detaining adults and requiring them to monitor their minor children in a public place be false arrest, or kidnapping, or holding hostage or something, without a law stating what the sign says, and allowing such police action?

How about a couple…dozen Open Carry picnics in the park?

Sounds like the Adult Supervision is a few years too late in being applied. And that there is a good chance that there is only one “adult” (Read: Immature mother) in these minors lives.

Hmm – 12 identified “gang members” plus a number of others with outstanding warrants – this was no bunch of High School kids out for a lark. I’m sure those sternly-worded signs will make ’em think twice about doing it ever again..

Chicago actually tried years back (1992) to give the police power to break up gang gatherings and was beaten back by the ACLU. Chicago v. Jesus Morales. Only time will tell if this new proposal will stand.

“There were multiple fights as well as gunshots on Saturday night when 300-400 youths showed up.”
Yeah, I’m sure that sign is really going to help.

We have a gang problem here in Chattanooga. The mayor’s office has had its collective head in the sand (or up its ass) on this for a long time. Bad press, you know, might frighten the tourists. When I saw their response to this latest “flash mob” I just couldn’t believe my eyes.
Signs.
OK then.

But, Uncle, Chattanooga banned guns in parks. So, this has got to be one of your un-possibles.
Thanks for catching this. It would be hilarious irony, were it not so deadly.
