A study
At least they determined this before building it:
Bullets from a nearby gun range could doom a controversial hotel and office tower project planned on west of the Sawgrass Expressway.

Kinda surprised this hasn’t happened yet:
Senator Michael S. Lee (R-UT) today called for the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Antitrust Subcommittee to conduct an oversight hearing on Google Inc. Lee joins Chairman Herb Kohl in encouraging hearings on the business practices of the dominant search firm. Lee is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee.
In a letter to Kohl, Lee noted that those who follow the tech industry, as well as those responsible for enforcing antitrust laws, have concerns that Google could be acting to harm competition.
“The powerful position Google occupies in the general search arena creates myriad opportunities for anticompetitive behavior,” Lee writes. “The Deputy Director for Antitrust within the Bureau of Economics at the Federal Trade Commission, Howard Shelanski, recently observed that a ‘hypothetical search engine’ with various ‘scale and network economies’ might become a ‘must have’ for consumers and thereby more effectively engage in ‘anticompetitive discrimination.’”
They are gatekeepers to an extent. I’ve talked to some folks who buy their ads and the rules on not using gun terms are silly. Not saying they should be sued for it but I don’t find it surprising.
From Cracked.com. Good to see non gun people pointing out the inconsistencies in gun laws.
Judge rules the restraining order stands and expands it:
Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina today broadened an original restraining order that stated members of Michigan Open Carry or associated people were barred from openly toting firearms on the library’s grounds.
Seems weak to me. Does MOC have a membership base other than whoever chooses to post at their website? Still, it was to be expected when you carry a shotgun into a public library. Being right is not more important than winning.
If you can see this, all software upgrades are done and a go.
If not, I’ll never know.
ATF raid in border town gets police chief and mayor on gun charges. If I were those two, I’d just make up a bogus story about how it was all part of an elaborate sting to smuggle guns into Mexico and then catch the bad guys later.
First, thoughts go out to those folks in Japan. And to those on coastal cities that could get hit by the wave.
But Tam notes:
Usually Mother Nature’s special effects extravaganzas occur in backwards lands full of howling savages, like Haiti or New Zealand. Japan, however, is a modern, technologically-advanced nation; where New Zealand has far more sheep than people, Japan has something like two or three hundred cameras for every human being
Update: Some amazing pics here.
Holder questioned in appropriation hearings about ATF smuggling guns into Mexico. He’s not a fan.
ATF lets 717 firearms go. Only recovers 123.
Mexican politician calls for extradition of agents involved.
Again, conservative rag talks favorably about gun rights. And oddity, in an odd numbered year.
Robb on these new rounds designed for suppression:
I don’t understand the desire to create a subsonic rifle round specifically so it can be suppressed.
Because you can. And to dispatch varmints without annoying your neighbors.
It’s time to demystify full auto.
In fact, a good start would be attend the LuckyGunner blog shoot.
You know, whenever there’s a negligent discharge with, say, a Glock, people will yammer on about how it’s because the gun has no manual safety. Now, here’s a case where someone is saying a ND was caused in part by a manual safety. Man manipulating the safety with his off hand pointed the gun at himself and died.
Safety or no, the four rules work. Because to really ruin your day, you have to break two of them.
Interesting article. From the piece, it’s not as alarming as it sounds. Seems there were multiple gun shots during a physical struggle. And, honestly, if i’m getting stabbed then I’m shooting until the stabbing stops.
Making firearm magazines from 3D printers. This is pretty cool. And shows the stupidity of banning things that can be built on the fly with a $1,200 piece of equipment. Post needs pics.
Update: Ok, pics.
Quite a bit going on regarding he Worst Scandal That You Haven’t Heard About. Well, not you. You follow the gun issue. But a lot of folks have not.
The Washington Post resorts to stupidity and says that ATF has no choice due weak gun laws. And, I shit you not, blames “the gun lobby”. Idiot.
More on that here, plus screeching from the idiots at the SPLC.
NRA calls for expedited hearings into ATF allowing guns into Mexico.
Tam: In the Mexican government’s defense, at least their cops are on the take and not doing it as a matter of agency policy.
ATF and DOJ are in full on damage control mode. Don’t burn down a church or something this time.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
