Today I made for the kids, at their request, peanut butter and salami sandwiches. My curiosity got the better of me and I tried one. While they are disgusting, they’re not as horrid as you would think.

Back when they first made peanut butter, peanut butter and bacon sandwiches were the norm – it took a while for Jelly to find its soul mate.

I grew up in North Carolina on PB & Banana sammiches, an excellent flavor and texture sensation.
A friend’s mom (from some northern state like New York or Canada) once made me a banana sandwich – with mayonnaise. I did not throw up, but it took some effort. I never ate there again. Maybe she was smarter than I thought.

For several years while in grade school I insisted on jelly and salami sandwiches.

My Dear Ole Dad loves Peanut Butter and mayo sandwiches, tried it once when I was a kid. Nuff said. Blehhhh. Im thinking that the monounsaturated fats and saturated fats of that combo, just cancel each other out.

… had a friend swear that PB & butter was bomb. I laughed until I tried it. Turned out to be pretty good.

if you think PB and butter is pretty good, try the triple butter sandwich. peanut butter, regular butter, and apple butter. it’s awesome.

+1 on the PB & bologna, a personel fave, and my favorite way to make my daughter leave the room.

BWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yep, PB & bologna. PB and honey isn’t bad, either if you have a sweet tooth going.

An onion bagel with cream cheese and strawberry jelly is surprisingly good.

Most people, upon hearing that one of my family’s traditional foods is a peanut butter and pickle sandwich, react with disgust. But every one of them who went on to try one discovered they liked it. Make sure you use dill chips, though. Anything else is heresy. 🙂

Peanut butter and bacon sandwich rocks. For extra cholesterol points, sop up some of the bacon grease with the bread.

Went on a camping/hiking trip in the Appalachians with a church group back in the late 60s. We lived on PB and Salami. Counselor had some reasoning about the protein and fat plus bread being an ideal combination for the physical activity we were doing. Haven’t had one since, now I’m hungry for one…

Go to Sedalia, MO and get a goober burger at the Wheel-In. It’s a hamburger w/ all the fixins’ including peanut butter.
