Makes perfect sense when you know their goal is to ban as much gun ownership as possible.
Same goes with the “Terrorist Watch List”, all you need is one zealous hack to feed in the phone book and ta-da, the pesky 2nd Amendment problem has been solved!

How about passing a Law making any crimes committed as a Minor automatically barring one from holding ANY Public Office, and make it Retroactive and Applicable to all current Office Holders?

Owning guns is a threat, and most gun control wacko’s seem to believe gun owners only vote Republican anyway.

Any law they can pass that will make it harder for Americans to get guns is something they’ll push for.

We have to watch this one, people, because it WILL gain traction among the city-dwellers. Aside from the Constitutional issues of being able to expunge your juve record upon attaining majority, this has appeal to those living in the shadow of urban gang violence.
The gang kids ARE hard core, I chased them for years as a cop and know that to the bottom of my soul. Very few of them DO rehabilitate, MOST of them re-offend as adults. Those ARE the facts, and depending on how this idea is sold, it might fly, if it gets by that sticky juve-record issue.
The way to beat this back is to INSIST on the present right of young persons attaining majority to have their records expunged (although there’s already a crack in THAT wall because juve sex assault crimes DO follow across the age-line). Also, SUPPORT efforts to put more money into gang outreach efforts and ALL anti-gang efforts by the cops (except the stupid crap like the Mayors advocate, establishing “gun-free zones” on gang battle-turf).

We can’t execute murderous kids because they were just kids, couldn’t form the necessary intent, didn’t understand, etc.
Why does none of that logic get applied in reverse? How a 5-year can be guilty of anything is beyond me, but schools have no problem cuffing, arresting and expelling 5 year olds for coming to class with a toy gun.

Not predicting bad news, but as rivrdog says this cannot be allowed to pass without not only strengthening the rights of minors for expungement but the permanent re-funding of the process for adults to regain their fundamental civil right as well.
It’s past time our pro-gun Congresscritters bring that up as a “civil rights” measure.
