Smyrna gun shop loses another round in Bloomberg suit. I’m trying to figure out how this is happening in NY court.

When is the trial for Bloomberg and gang for the straw purchases they made?
Oh, right… :\

This makes no sense, why is this happening in NY? Oh well, I guess law never makes any sense, because its about power not reason.

Because they quit defending the suit. The ability of Bloomberg to drain the defendants dry using city taxpayers money is impossible for a small business owner to defeat.

I’m still unclear how they established substantial contact to give NY jurisdiction over a Georgia gun shop.

@Phelps:
NY courts decided they had jurisdiction… Nuff said.
Easy as that. You cannot defeat an enemy with law when the enemy controls the law and is also willing to ignore it when they please. We libertarians often get confused and think that law matters, when it doesn’t really, it would if we were a nation of laws, but we are a nation ruled by men, not laws. So, what matters is power, and who wields it. A popular mayor in NYC with judges that agree with his policy will win every time.
Anyway, this is why conservatives do not win or only barely win in courts. Our judges follow law and precedent, their judges don’t. What we need are hardcore libertarian judges who will ignore precedent and instead rule by libertarian principles, until we have that, our gains made in court will be meager at best.
