Maybe he could apply for a carry permit
Speaking of Chicago
Mayor Daley opposes gun ownership. But he has no problem asking the city to provide him with around the clock security detail after he retires.
Such hypocrisy.

8 years as a states attorney, 22 as a mayor, and the city’s still not safe enough for him and his bride. I’d take that as testimony that his reign was a failure for safe streets.
BTW He’s going to be asking $50,000 per public speaking engagement let him hire his own protection. Time are tough and the city is short 2500 police officers.

Markie Marxist sez: “It’s sort of not really hypocrisy, it’s more like it’s just common sense communism. Guns for the privileged, government elite, but none for ordinary, private citizens. That’s the way we did it in the Soviet Union, and we have the same philosophy in Chicago, so we do it that way there too. It just wouldn’t be totalitarianism if we didn’t.”

Typical elitist, authoritarian dictator type is the Mayor and it’s a true saying: only your enemy wants you disarmed.

Gee, won’t Rahm allow Dickie and his crony thugs “Get out of Jail Free” cards so they can carry CCW w/o out all that annoying paperwork that the Plebes have to go through?

His concern here is that if he used a license and carried for himself it might spoil the tailoring lines of his clothes.
Hey, how about giving every resident and visitor a full-time bodyguard? Oh wait, who would guard the guards…

There is an old but persistent rumor that Daley has been carrying a snub revolver for decades. I’ve never seen proof–or evidence for that matter–but it wouldn’t surprise me to find out it was true.
Some have suggested a bill to force Daley and his like to pay taxes on the value of the 24/7 armed guards they demand. I think unarmed guards would be a good idea, but not exactly fair to the men who end up doing the guarding.
The way I hear it, the Governor’s veto threat meant nothing, but Daley’s arm-twisting (many legislators have “day jobs” with the state, the city or Cook County; others have other perks, and Daley is owed favors and often careers in all those places, so he can make very serious threats) cost enough votes to sink the bill. Daley’s last day in office is the 16th, so it’ll be interesting to see what Emmanuel does after that. Personally I don’t see Daley’s power ending right away after he leaves office . . . . it’s built on patronage and personal and professional debts throughout a large network of influential people. I think many of those people will continue to defer to Daley for a long time.

I am very familiar with the state of Illinois, and the only civilians allowed to carry concealed weapons in the state are the mayor and 50 aldermen of the city of Chicago. But I seriously doubt Little Dick has the nerve to carry.
The father ruled the city from 1955-1976. The son tried to be “the boss” his father was, but I’m afraid the better part of Little Dick ran down his mother’s leg; he was more of a petty little tyrant. But he did cover his tracks very well.
His detractors do hate him, but any actual threat to him personally is minimal. People suspect him of being dirty but there is little proof. He covered his tracks very well.
However, because only he knows how truly dirty he is, the threat perceived by him is immense. And he’s no longer in power; he doesn’t have the power of the office to protect him any more. And he’s scared.
