Perhaps Ron Paul was cheered by those who know that he is in a presidential debate and they know that according to the 10th Amendment, the Federal Government has NO “delegated powers” over matters such as “drugs and prostitution”…matters which are “reserved to the States or to the People” by personal choice or a referendum.
Let’s CONSERVE the Constitution for a CHANGE!

Man maybe we’re getting away from the 19th Century Schoolmarm attitude that’s been plaguing the GOP where “Reefer Madness” and “Pray Away the Gay” have always been lurking behind every platform.
Let’s lay off some useless govenment hacks, let’s take some power away from the state and Federal agencies, let’s dump the patriot act, the TSA, and let the people wear their big kid pants.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:03 am
The government shouldn’t be the morality police. If the Republicans can dump that image they’ll go a long way.
Let the states do that if they want, at least then people can vote with their feet.

Fox liked Cain, and so do I. The job should be all business, and as little politics as possible. It’s been the other way around for far to long.

Sigh…you guys.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:33 am
but…..Liberty is scary! I mean we can’t have people making their own decisions. That’s a job for the government, right?
May 6th, 2011 at 10:36 am
Apparently. That’s why the GOP is going to wind up running another Big Government type who makes the right mouth noises about abortion and queers…

Prostitution: a profession with certain advantages and many disadvantages, just like any other potentially dangerous manual labor. Fewer problems when legal. Use of heroin: not very smart but not any business of Fedgov or any other. Nice or Ron Paul to agree.

“The government shouldn’t be the morality police. If the Republicans can dump that image they’ll go a long way.”
Especially when its actually a news story when a Republican gets caught with a hooker or an 8-ball of blow, vs. the “Its no big deal” when a Democrat gets caught in the same situation.
Its not like any of them care a whit about individual liberty, just the GOP and their puritanical streak of yesteryear look more like a bunch of hypocrites.

Rivrdog,
“The job should be all business”…yes,BUT,within the confines of the wording of the Constitution and Bill of Rights according to the presidential oath of office.

Liberty isn’t scary people but heroin sure as hell is…

Markie Marxist sez: “That’s bizarre! Everybody knows that government has the authority to regulate every aspect of everyone’s life, all the time, everywhere, for any reason. That’s why we call it totalitarianism. Ask my commie compadre, Mayor Bloomberg how it works. He’s an expert at it.”

John Smith,
The abuse of things, especially to bring harm to others is always scary, and those ACTIONS can be made illegal by the States, but the Federal Governmetn should be kept within its Constitutional, “delegated powers” constraints.
“I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.”–Thomas Jefferson

John Smith, meet Edward Huntington Williams:
We’ve had a hundred years of busybodies like you trying to save us from drug-crazed Negroes and guitar-strumming smelly hippies, and I don’t see that it’s done a damn thing except fill the jails with citizens and the phone books with lawyers, so how about you just piss off?

Here here, Tam!
May 6th, 2011 at 2:01 pm
Tam,
Well-said!
Not to mention giving government’s men (and women) with guns a reason to kick down doors and shoot any who resist….something which is even worse when it’s militarized feds or private security hired guns.
May 6th, 2011 at 2:09 pm
The only thing scary about heroin that’s just sitting on your coffee table not doing anything is the 15-man SWAT Team preparing to shoot your dog over it.

We need to declare victory on the War on Drugs and send the DEA agents to our southern border.
All of these silly issues are state issues and not Federal ones.
May 6th, 2011 at 8:12 pm
Prohibition was introduced as a fraud; it has been nursed as a fraud.
It is wrapped in the livery of Heaven, but it comes to serve the devil.
It comes to regulate by law our appetites and our daily lives.
It comes to tear down liberty and build up fanaticism, hypocrisy, and intolerance. It comes to confiscate by legislative decree the property of many of our fellow citizens. It comes to send spies, detectives, and informers into our homes; to have us arrested and carried before courts and condemned to fines and imprisonments. It comes to dissipate the sunlight of happiness, peace, and prosperity in which we are now living and to fill our land with alienations, estrangements, and bitterness.
It comes to bring us evil–only evil–and that continually. Let us rise in our might as one and overwhelm it with such indignation that we shall never hear of it again as long as grass grows and water runs. — Roger Q. Mills, 1887
It is not the business of government to make men virtuous or religious, or to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly. Government should be repressive no further than is necessary to secure liberty by protecting the equal rights of each from aggression on the part of others, and the moment governmental prohibitions extend beyond this line they are in danger of defeating the very ends they are intended to serve. – Henry George
It is not the business of government what we put in our bodies.
And give ’em hell, Tam!

YES!
And I would include BATF agents with the DEA agents to be re-assigned to the Border Patrol where they could do Constitutional duty: “The United States SHALL… protect the States against invasion” (Article IV, Section 4)

As I’ve long said, Libertarians are Republicans who aren’t afraid to admit they like sex, drugs and rock & roll as much as everybody else.

All I can say is I am shocked at the support. What happened to the support when the man was saying the same thing in 2008? Or better yet in 1971? I am very glad to see your audience is not “just” supporting” the second amendment but the tenth among others.
Tam said:

and if Rivrdog had his way big government would continue unabated, but I will not hold judgement as I am sure Riverdog is not fully aware of who Herman Cain is, or who he represents.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQFfhoRWXGQ
1.Cain supports:
2. Romney Care
3. TARP
4. Thought Iraq was a good idea.
5. Cheerleader for Bush’s economic stimulus.
6. Bailouts
7. X-Chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve.
8. Wants no Independent audit of the Federal Reserve Cartel.
Herman Cain is simply more of the same, establishment, failurecrats that have bankrupted our nation. While I will not give a Ron Paul campaign speech, please take a look at anyone other than the establishment blessed status quo for a change. The GOP leadership would rather Obama take a second term so they can conduct business as usual than to give one ounce up in the name of liberty and personal freedom, look around you.
