NSSF releases the the results of a survey on AR-15 ownership, with lots of interesting stats. Notably: 30 percent of all MSR owners purchased their first rifle in 2009 or 2010.

I like the stat that said nearly half were former military or police. Since you can’t bring your weapon home from the War anymore, lots of Vets just bought the Semi-Auto version when they got out.
Think of what would have happened if Big Army had replaced the M-14 with Kalashnikovs. ; )

Who decided only ARs qualify as EBRs? All but one of my AKs are black and plastic (the woody is a Krink), and all those plus the FALs and machineguns I have still don’t count – because I don’t have an AR?
Ridiculous.

Ironically I bought my first semi-auto rifle in 1993.

Ok, so it’s a survey of AR owners. Big friggin deal.
I have a safe full of guns; some of them are what the antis call “assault rifles”. None of them are ARs.
I meet just about all the other criteria in the survey though.
I guess I don’t count since I’m not a “Modern Sporting Rifle” fanboy. What pantywaist came up with that stupid moniker anyway?

Bought my first AR in 1974, even had a legal M-16A1 for a while. Have a few M4geries now

Relax all. The point is, put more folks perceived as anti-gunners in positions of power and wind up with more guns in peoples’ hands. Especially the ones they they demonize the most. Sounds good to me.

Hey! No fair! I bought an Armalite AR-10!
It’s an AR, so why can’t I get in this game?
Charlie (the Armalite AR-10 A4BF is a cool toy)

My Marlin Model 60 counts as an assault rifle in New Jersey. Which, of course, is why I live in Texas.

Ha Charlie, wait a sec while I get my barrel out of the stock, and my AR-7 will join you!
Shoot like a Pirate Day…AR.
