We’re winning
And it’s important:
self reliance is the death knell for ‘progressivism’
I’d like to believe that independent people are not viewed as a threat to progressive ideals. But, as Josh Horowitz indicates, even they don’t pretend that’s the case any more.

That’s why I don’t call them “Anti-Gun” but “Anti-Rights” on the narrow scope of gun control they’ll propose gun owners name to be published everywhere, and they be treated differently at businesses and under employment. They’ll support any “Gun Free Zone” to become a TSA security point, and they’ll demand they search our property to make sure we don’t have any unregistered guns, any improperly stored guns, or any guns we might have sold outside of an FFL transfer.
But on the wider scope these are the same people who when they essentially banned guns in England are now banning knives. Look at who supported banning Four Loko drinks. There are NO rights that are sacred to these people, just guns are getting a LOT of attention.
Why, because once you get your guns taken away they can take anything else without resistance.

Historically, those whose ideals proved a threat to progressivism found themselves in mass graves.

A long time ago, someone using the handle “Ironbear” put it this way:
This is a conflict of ideologies…
The heart of the conflict is between those to whom personal liberty is important, and those to whom liberty is not only inconsequential, but to whom personal liberty is a deadly threat.
You said it yourself some time back: If you fuck with me bad enough, I’ll kill your ass.
That’s the ultimate statement of the sovereign individual, the anti-collectivist, the “reactionary.” AND THEY KNOW IT.
Your personal liberty is a deadly threat to them. Rob’s right, it is rather difficult to corral people into the boxcars when they can shoot your ass.

Kevin, the sad part is those being corralled into the cars think those that are resisting are bad people.

Go along to get along and don’t miss out on the free showers in strangely airtight buildings.

This is why gun control organizations’ websites rarely highlight the recruitment of new members, in sharp contrast to the NRA or SAF. They’re not interested in what ordinary individuals have to say; they just want you to fall in line and obey.

“Kevin, the sad part is those being corralled into the cars think those that are resisting are bad people.”
You know what, though?
I don’t give a flying rat’s patoot what those being herded into the boxcars think of me.

As usual, Kevin Baker says it much better than me.

John, it’s also because they don’t have ‘members’

I see what you did there

Progressivism is always about controlling. If you don’t fit into their “plans”, you’re defective and must be destroyed. Their “plans” are never defective, You are.

The anti’s are always on about how the firearms are only good for killing people. When someone asks me why I have these guns, I always say, straight out, “for shooting people”. Kinda puts most of them off balance, but then I can explain. I’m not a hunter, although I have some that would be good for it. I have a few for varmints, but that’s not even it. I have firearms against the time I need to shoot some people, and that’s the fact of the matter. Not that I want to, just that I might have to.

Mr. Evilwrench,
Well-said!
I tell people I have guns because they are for the most basic human right of self-defense against criminals and tyrants–the only two groups who should be threatened by guns in the hands of the people.

“The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized.” –Col. Jeff Cooper, “The Art of the Rifle”

Cooper’s only half-right about a citizenry armed with rifles. It also takes the will to refuse tyranny, but I think those people are few and far between.
