Funny thing, with that restriction, the item is export controlled through ITAR, i.e., any item specifically designed or modified for military use. That should make traveling with it interesting. Or better yet, if one of the sellers decides to make an export sale without getting a license.

“Oddly”, Camelbak’s own website doesn’t mention that “requirement”, though they also don’t sell it direct.
I’d suspect, with John, that it’s just a marketing gimmick – except it can’t be a very effective one if they really try to enforce it…

So they’re playing on the stupidity and hubris of Those Who Are Our Betters. That sort of puts them in there with McMillan, by my way of thinking.
Pretty poor marketing in any case. I suppose there are those few who will try to get one, just because the manufacturer says they can’t.

The price listed is likely for the GSA purchasers – and retail would be significantly more pricey.
So it isn’t a LEO or Military only thing – it is a government contract price thing.
