Quote of the day
Kevin in comments at Tam’s about the ammo girls:
The thing I enjoyed about the “ammo waitresses” as they’ve been referred to, was watching them shoot many of the weapons. One of the physically smallest of them sat down behind the BAR and ripped off a full magazine, and then got up with a smile that wrapped around her entire head.
This!

The rest of the comment:
“I saw several of them shooting, and all of them had that smile afterward. I asked two or three if they were shooters, and none of them were until that day.
Hey, for me that’s a net win.”
So having “both babes” can get attract female shooters… themselves.

I wasn’t at the shoot but it looks like the ammo girls were paid to carry ammo not stand around and look pretty. I don’t really see the problem.

This is a cool interwebz-nexus layered interlink comment.

I was there.
They wore the kind of clothes most young women wear these days when running around in the heat, with sleeveless shirts (not even tank tops) and tennis skirts, which have more layers than your average shorts or skirts. I’ve seen joggers, soccer players, and tennis players wearing the exact same, or less.
I was happy about the ammo and water, and if their uniforms didn’t bother them, it didn’t bother me.

Apparently they weren’t tied down to the “gun-kitchen” either, and had a chance to shoot and enjoy themselves.

Personally I think it’s much ado about nothing… Many of these same people were at NRAAM, and nothing was said about the booth babes up there…

Good grief: of all the silly, inconsequential issues to be arguing about.
Only lesbians and the terminally pussy-whipped are going to get upset about this issue. All the negative comments I’ve seen on the topic are of the “we need to get away from the 1960s attitudes towards women” ilk.
My suggestion is that we need to get away from the 2000s neo-feminist attitude towards women.
The LG ammo attendants’ clothing wasn’t even remotely revealing, let alone Hooters-like.
Frankly, if women are going to be put off going into a market simply by seeing another woman in a sleeveless golf shirt, then THEY are the ones who need to get over themselves.
It’s not a “boys’ club” mentality, any more than waitresses at an Irish bar engender a “boys’ club” mentality.
“Oh, maybe LG should also have had a few young men to hand out free ammo and water instead of just women.” Come on: do you know how ridiculous that quota crap SOUNDS? PC/feminist bullshit.
If I were Lucky Gunner, I’d hold off from providing ANY similar services next year. Let the complainers fend for themselves, and good luck to them.
