the blind and the right to arms

Kansas City Star:

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has expressed concerns about changes to the concealed-carry law that prevents the state from denying gun permits to the blind and other people with serious physical disabilities.

The exercise of rights only limited to the those without serious disabilities? The slope is slippery, there.

I smell smoke coming from a certain Librarian in my neck of the woods.

  2. Weer'd Beard Says:

My father-in-law kept a loaded .357 Magnum in his nightstand, even during the period of time when he was legally blind.

Maybe he wouldn’t be able to win an E-postal match, but I imagine even when his vision was at its worst he could make minuet of bad-guy.

    Thankfully his vision recovered.

Remember, it’s not discrimination when they do it.

  4. Tam Says:

So far as I know, Knoxville’s blind CCW permit holder has yet to shoot anything or anyone that didn’t need shooting.

  5. Kristopher Says:

Why shouldn’t a blind person own a pocket pistol or derringer?

“Jack Ruby” your assailant. Use it at contact distance and rule 4 is preserved.

  6. Chas Says:

Must a woman be able to see him to shoot a rapist off of her? Even at night, in total darkness?

  7. Justthisguy Says:

Hold off on getting that official Asperger’s dx, boys and girls.

EXCUUUUUSE me!?! (I’m sorry, I think my head just exploded.)

  9. Justthisguy Says:

And further: Anybody else remember that scene in “The Blues Brothers” with Ray Charles and the revolver?

  10. Sigivald Says:

It’s important to remember that, as far as I understand it, one can be legally “blind”, without being completely unable to see.

(In some contexts in some areas, my impressions is that one can be “blind” for some legal purposes and yet still see perfectly well enough using corrective lenses; bad enough eyesight can be correctible, but meet the criteria for “blindness” without correction.)

    HEH

Why do you need a magazine that can hold more than ten rounds?

“So far as I know, Knoxville’s blind CCW permit holder has yet to shoot anything or anyone that didn’t need shooting.”

Puts him way ahead of the cops 😀

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
