We must ban chainsaws for the children
What caliber for chainsaw wielding intruder? Apparently, a baseball bat works.

Interesting that the reporter included very careful explanation of the attacker following the victim, who was retreating, into the victim’s home, before the victim koncked the attacker on the head with a bat, causing the attacker to fall back outside onto the porch.
Is VA still a state that still requires a victim to retreat before taking defensive actions? If so, is this story true or does the victim’s report comfortably align with VA law, likely as described to the victim by the first police officer on the scene?

Taking one step backward is a retreat…

Why in the hell would you open the door to someone yelling and banging on your door? Sounds like a first level failure.
Of course, he’d more than enough chainsaw to cut through the door, but I’m betting you could get just about any gun in the house by the time he got in. I’m going with .45 for chainsaw. Or anything else that is easily available.
Got to say the guy with the bat had to be pretty brave. Chainsaw is a pretty scary thing to be attacked with.

Goin’ M4 with a 30rd; if he figures to perforate me across the middle & tear me in half, I’ll just return the comliment.

To the homeowner’s credit, it was an aluminum bat.

Wow. Guess I’ll just start coming here for my local news. I live in Prince William Co., right between Stafford and Fairfax Counties. Haven’t heard anything about this.

No. While there is no “Stand your ground” law on the books, it has been established through legal precedent that you can and like force can be used against force.

Twelve-gauge with 00buck beats chain saw every time. But if a bat is all you have, it’s quicker to maneuver than a chain saw, so while it was close, the batman wins, IMHO

Man, that perp is lucky to be alive. It’s like he was trying to get himself taken out.
