The big one would count as a grenade launcher, I guess, if there were any grenades with it. Otherwise, yeah, it’s just a flare gun.
The stainless smith revolver, sans grips… what’s with that hole in the frame?
Two pistols were shown later, one looked like a .22.
I’m guessing the brass tube thingie is a home-made zip gun.
So, one centerfire pistol, one gripless revolver that might be a parts gun, a .22, a zip gun, and some flare projectors. A veritable arsenal of destruction! I have more firepower than that by my bed.
District Attorney Kathleen Rice is a maliciously anti-gun prosecutor. She’s so rabidly anti-gun that it’s no surprise that she’s conflating flare launchers with firearms and grenade launchers to pad her resume. I pity the kid in Nassau County who walks down the street “armed” with a yellow and orange Super Soaker. Combine that with her propensity for DNA grabbing and she’s a vicious, one-woman, police state.
Yeah, but look at the money they made selling those “Dangerous” Flare Guns to the Police. Wonder if they can convince that DumbAss D.A. that the Brooklyn Bridge is really a Rail Gun, ready to launch Freight cars into her Office? And I wonder how much of the Taxpayers Money she’d be willing to spend to “get it off the Streets?”
Aren’t surplus flare guns usually pretty cheap — like less than $50? I see the potential for arbitrage when the police set up “gun buy-backs” for $100 or more….
Mike: Even better, the “zip gun” is really a tear-gas pen.
If it’s not capable of firing projectiles, it’s not even a firearm under Federal law.
(If it is, as some of them are, it’s an AOW, and I think the Feds might be upset about the local cops taking in a Federal felony without asking questions…)
LKP: Naw. M79s don’t have an octagonal barrel. It’s just a very-vaguely-similar break-action.
(Also, I cry at the very idea of an M79 being sent to those savages; if it’s NFA registered it’s worth a fortune – and if it isn’t, there’s a registration amnesty coming up or in discussion in the Senate, I believe…)
Operation IMPACT is also why they nailed all those gun shops here with… uh, false charges and lost sales for a few days. Remember the stuff about T&T Gunnery?
I always have a couple of grenade launchers with me at all times. My left arm and my right arm. That’s why I’m always “armed” with grenade launchers. I just never have any grenades to go with them. Those things are dangerous, because here’s no such thing as “muzzle control”, either with a grenade or with Kathleen Rice. However, between them, I would say that it’s Kathleen Rice’s lack of “muzzle control” that’s more of a threat to our freedom. She needs to relocate from New York to America.

aren’t those…. flare guns?
June 22nd, 2011 at 9:30 am
yeah tango, thats exactly what they are. the little one is a 12.5mm and the big one is a 37mm.
Of note in the article: Police performed a “DNA Sweep.” WTF is that?

Wow. Two flare guns (and the brass thingy is a tear-gas-launching “Pengun“.)
IOW, of all the objects shown, half of them aren’t even guns.
Good work, Officers!

Did any of them have the shoulder thing that goes up? That’s where it gets really dangerous.

37mm flare projectors are not regulated as firearms.
(Interestingly, neither are flamethrowers…)

Brilliant!

It looks like a modified m79 grenade launcher

Thank God they reduced the chance of drive-by flaring…for the children.
