I’ve seen MANY photos on posters and other promotional material in the music industry, taken by very good photographers who happen to know nothing about the product they’re photographing, some using models who also know nothing about the product.
Of course it is up to the promoters within the company to screen the material before it goes to print, or to work directly with the photographers, and that’s where the breakdown occurs.
That’s why Oleg is such a great gun photographer – he understands some things about guns.
Still it ain’t easy, folks. Did you want that safety on or off? Why is that sling loop sticking upward? Is that optic on straight? Does it make sense for that BUIS to be up or down? etc., etc., etc. Then try getting a model who’s never touched a gun before look like an experienced shooter, or get an experienced shooter who makes a great model. Then when you’re looking at getting all the right hardware and props together, ahead of the deadline when you know you have edditing to do, get the file formatting just right for the publisher, while your wife, kids, etc. are trying to get you on the phone and your mistress is threating to leave you and take the car….
Hell it’s a wonder how anything gets done right sometimes.

HK: But don’t they Hate Us and We Suck anyway? So why should they care if we notice they can’t load a Magazine properly?
