A political tool

Oregon democrats vote 100% against privacy of handgun carry permit holders. We had a similar bill up a bit back and it looked to pass until the republicans realized that they could send their campaign spam to people on the list.

OK, let’s use this. This is an argument, now, for replacing the handgun carry permit bill we have, with a bill that acknowledges constitutional carry (with no permit). I can think of little rationale for disclosing permit holders’ names and addresses, other than some form of harassment from the left. They might argue for disclosure pertaining to some person involved in an incident, such as a road rage “show the gun” incident. In other words, if Roger Roadrage appears in the paper for waving a pistol around at another driver, the press could more easily check on whether or not he carried a permit. However, these instances are so extremely (yes, I used extremely, and on purpose) rare, that they offer no evidence which may rationally be used to apply to public policy and make law.

I look at it like this… Now the criminals know who NOT to rob….

  3. Bubblehead Les Says:

Revealing who has a Permit just tells the Union Thugs who to harass when they do their Mass Protests. Of course, when they try to storm the property and catch some Lead in the Head….

  4. IllTemperedCur Says:

Well, their intent is for the harassment to come from the CCW’ers friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers, customers and employers. The antis don’t have the intestinal fortitude to do their own harassment, essentially they’re trying to sabotage CCW’ers personal lives.

I’d be worried about this new law if I thought crooks actually read anything other than a lotto ticket.

I pack heat as a retired cop every day, courtesy of LEOSA-04, and my name won’t be on that list, so I guess that should mean that I will have a better opportunity to waste a crook, one of the “smart crooks” who uses cyber-smarts to pick his victims.

BTW, has anyone ever really heard of one of these cyber-smart crooks? I haven’t, and I was a cop for 25 years.

Nope, the NRA and others lost this fight because they used the boogeyman approach to fight it, not the erosion-of-civil-rights approach. No one buys the boogeyman approach any more.

Just another mis-calculation on the NRA’s part, but that list gets longer every year, and is the reason I don’t belong to the NRA any more.

Dumb politics, you want some? Your NRA will give you some.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
