So if someone sees you with a gun in a mall, they’ll call in a bunch of men with guns to scour the mall looking one man with a gun. So if the reason that they were called is because that a man with a holstered gun is a danger, they have exponentially increased the number of men with guns thus increased the danger many times over the original danger. Or do the men with guns that are there looking for another man with a gun possess a magic talisman that makes them safer than the original man with a gun that perhaps has no magic talisman?
My understanding is there are now civil forfeitures in place for cops that harass open carriers in WI (obviously trespass is still trespass, as it would be in this case). It’s part of the CCW law that went into effect right away; the permits come around November 1st.
How many states place legal significance on posted notices “prohibiting” firearms on private property? It seems somewhat gray, but in Georgia at least it seems as though ignoring a no-firearms sign does not result in criminal tresspass. A carrier must be asked in person.
This is at least my understanding. Id be interested in others’ take on this.
Yeah; is it the cops’ job to enforce mall rules? Seems to me they should have asked him to take hios gun somewhere else if they didn’t like it. Why would the cops have shown up at all? How stupid is that, being as the alledged gun toter didn’t even touch the gun or make any threatening gestures or threatening movements of the eyebrows, or look at a white girl, etc…?

Oh no, but its against the rules…which are stupid.
Odd that nobody seems to raise the “Who cares?” question.

I like concealed carry because it keeps criminals guessing, but I see this as a textbook case of why open carry may be a good thing.
My reason is that if enough people will open carry, then we can innoculate the public from the PSH that this incident high lights.

Isn’t this about like calling the cops to enforce your company dress code, and then having the cops actually being stupid enough to play along?
“I’m sorry, Sir, but you’re supposed to be wearing a BLUE tie. GET DOWN ON THE GROUND, MUTHA FUCKA!”
