Eh. The U.N. probably sat back, shook its collective head, and called the honorable representative from Syria to speak and bring some clarity to the mess.
Great points Wayne, but I am sure that the people at the big boys table simply did as Ellen mentioned, dismissing everything that crazy cowboy just said. He should have pointed out that such treaty provisions would be carried out by various countries’ governments, and those have a bad record over the last century. When over 100 million people have been murdered by their own governments in the 1900’s perhaps that deserves a mention. Also important is that while the 2nd Amendment is awesome, it’s not just for us. The right not to passivly kneel and be murdered does not end at the Rio Grande. To paraphrase Oleg Volk, if each Jew had a mauser and 5 rounds of ammo, the fellow who cast Charlie Chaplin’s stache into disrepute would have just been a crazy failed painter. Rights are not granted by governments or regulated by treaties, they are from God. Rights are universal truths, and while they are not fully exercised in many places, (here as well as elsewhere) that does not diminish the fact that they are still there, waiting to be called upon when the serfs get their gumption back.
