Houston Chronicle: Federal agents losing firearms by the hundreds

DHS lost 243 in two years. 74% because they weren’t properly secured.

But if you lose one, you should go to prison.

I always wonder how you lose a gun.

I’ve never lost one. No one I know has ever lost one.

Maybe because we pay for ours. A Fed gets handed one with the badge and it’s probably just about as meaningful as any other “company” issued items.

I have never lost one, however my wife found a pair of S&W 357 revolvers in a nice case on the side of the road. I figured someone put them on the roof or trunk of their vehicle and drove off. Placed an add in the local newspaper lost and found for a week but never did receive a response. Checked with the Locals and the State police but they had no record of anyone reporting them missing….
Still have them and not complaining. :o)

That’s sad. I lost a pair of nice Smith and Wesson .357 revolvers one time. I had them in a nice case and I put them on the roof of my car when I was leaving the shooting range. They must have fallen off on my drive home. If anyone out there finds them, let me know.

    😉

Wonder what would happen if some non-Federale happened upon those “Lost Items” and turned them into the Police? Would they be charged with Possession of Stolen Gov’t Property, just to cover up their Agents Incompetence?

Of course, I’ll bet you a Dollar to a Donut, some of those “Only Ones” wanted some extra cash, and “inadvertently” left their Gov’t Issued Car unlocked, and some Street Punk w/Drug Money accepted delivery.

I was wondering where the one I found in the parking lot came from! (and yes, Mr. Federal Agent Troll, I’m joking)

Why are supervisors accepting this performance?

I have trained and performed under some awful conditions. Days without sleep. My fellow soldiers and I have never lost or misplaced a weapon. In 1987, a new soldier misplaced a pair of night vision goggles. Our battalion command sergeant major had every soldier dummy-cord every weapon and sensitive item. Walk around with a M16A2 tied to you for a month long field problem and you learn to internalize accountability. And that is often going days without sleep.

Serving as federal law enforcement comes with a few job perks. But “oops, I lost another gun, can I please get another” is not it.

Yeah, how in the heck does an agency lose ten guns a month for two years straight, and… I dunno, not get disbanded? I’ve been there for the unholy doom doom doom when my unit thinks it has lost NVG’s or a weapon, so what the heck is going on with these DHS douchebags?

  9. Bryan S. Says:

Bet we could find them, if we searched agent’s family homes, or Mexico.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
