It is no trade secret that the US Army will soon field the M41A Pulse Rifle which fires the standard 10mm, caseless, exploding tip, light armor piercing round.
Once these fall into the hnads of civilians we will see blood in the streets.
Or, if you prefer reality, we will see poorly researched reporting by staff members who have little or no firearms experience.
In the spirit of the charcutier who recently remarked that his whole industry was offended by comparing legislation to sausage-making: there’s room here for a defamation suit from the excellent Spangler Candy Company of Bryan, Ohio, makers of Dum-Dum Pops ™.
Big Hayden: You forgot to say, in mention of the bonehead NJ law, that NJ even refuses to let their police carry HP in secondary or off-duty weapons.
Where’s the NRA or 2AF when you need them? This law has been on their books for a long time. Why doesn’t everyone’s supersized hero, Chris Christie, dump this law and open up NJ to a breath of fresh air via the 2A?
Also, small note, NJ law prohibits possession of hollowpoint ammo just as much as it prohibits possession of handguns. Which explains why I can have 2 mags of 9×19 jhp loaded in the bed stand and probably a thousand round or so of plated hollowpoint .22 in my closet.
The law does mean that the unicorns who have a CCW, have to use ball or fancy enhanced expansion ammo in their carry pieces, and if I was to go to the range with my rifle I’d have to follow the transport rules if I brought the “wrong” ammo.

Do you think that idiot who put a loaded firearm onto the Airport Ticket Counter in New Orleans was using Dum Dums?

This is an ancient anti-gunner’s code phrase. Occasionally seen from the ghetto-speak crowd, too.
More on my comment at SIH.

Haven’t y’all discovered the purpose of “news” yet?

In the old cartoons, dum dum bullets followed the person you shot it at.

Just to prove your point: NJ firearm laws prohibit the possession of “dum-dum or hollow nose ammunition”.

Look up mueller vs maenza sometime. And, quite frankly, Christie had different fish to fry than a fairly minor 2a violation.

Get shall-issue in NJ first.
