Several people from across the East Tennessee protested the lack of a deal on the debt ceiling crisis in front of the Blount County Courthouse on Tuesday.
Organized through MoveOn.org, the protesters were originally trying to protest in front of the district office of U.S. Rep. John J. “Jimmy” Duncan on Broadway Avenue, but later moved to the courthouse lawn. Duncan recently moved his office to the courthouse.
Seems they want to raise taxes on thecomfortable upper middle class err the rich. Meanwhile, this:

“They are trying to balance the budget on the back of the poor,” Dan Dobbs said.

The report is far too kind, making the reader discern that the protest was started in front of an empty office before somebody wised up and they moved to the correct location. I’d have made the lede: “Not only are their financial policies in the wrong place, so are the protestors.”
With friends like these, I wish nothing but the best for our Democratic legislators in DC.

Protesting in front of a county courthouse over federal policy? Sounds like someone failed civics class. Or more likely they probably don’t even teach civics in school today.

Go easy on these people – they live on the bottom of the food chain (by choice, of course).
Our country is going to default on its debt.
The only issues are when and what to do about it.
We will look back on 2011 as the good old days by comparison to what’s coming in the reasonably near future.

Taxes have been and are already being raised…the inflation tax caused by an ever expanding debt and the resulting devluation of the dollar. Is that the kind of tax they want?
It wasn’t so long ago that many were protesting the Bush Administration for increasing the debt–and rightly so. But now, we have so of the same folks wanting what Bush was doing. Is their wanted “CHANGE” simply MORE?
