Update in Canton

Tam:

City Councilman Allen Schulman of Canton Ohio goes a long way to explain the conduct of Officer ‘Roid Rage by demonstrating that in Canton, the culture of arrogant douchebaggery flows right from the city council top and trickles all the way down through the police department

Guns from Bison Armory

ATF and guns in Mexico

Lots of stuff:

Staffer at the White House discussed the operation.

Media starts paying attention.

The funniest thing you’ll see today

I guarantee it.

I am disappointed in me. This story involves lesbians, intolerance, bad hair, cletus and a water park. And I cannot come up with a witty title.*

At Dollywood’s Splash Country, a lesbian was asked to turn her shirt that said “marriage is so gay” around. She was told by the gate attendant, an employee, to do so. Seems the statement on her shirt was “objectionable”. Frankly, that woman’s haircut is far more objectionable than her shirt. But that’s a separate issue.

Now, I’ve been to Splash Country a time or two and, let me tell you, if the most objectionable thing I saw there was that shirt, I’d be surprised. At Splash Country, I’ve seen every variation of “I’m with stupid” and “bikini inspector” T-shirts. An inordinate amount of body hair. I’ve seen a lot of anecdotal data supporting Tennessee’s obesity rate. I’ve seen all manner of misbehaved kids and all manner of Cletus saying “hey, ya’all, watch this!” It’s Sevierville, so expect a Confederate flag or 30.

I wouldn’t even notice a couple of lesbians enjoying a water park. I’d notice their hairstyles.

I also notice the KNS doesn’t allow comments on the story.

* No really. Not sure what happened. I mean, damn, that’s my thing.

Meddler morality enforced by the state

Oleg on blue laws:

The only result it has achieved so far is fostering contempt and the animosity for the meddlers in the legislature and for those who lobbied for such restrictions. I can buy the drinks on another day, but the resentment over the imposition remains.

Economic Cheer

A couple of charts showing how screwed we are. And this:

If the entire U.S budget were cut to zero, effective immediately—the military, all entitlements, the electricity bill for the Capitol—there still wouldn’t be enough money to cover the payments on old debt that come due every day.

Correlation

Anyone seriously talking about “dum dum bullets” is probably a dum dum.

Ignoring the second amendment

In Ohio, the court seems to have ignored the second amendment argument.

Norway reactions

The Brady Campaign sees the writing on the wall.

Media Matters lies (as shocking a statement as ‘water is wet’) claiming that the gun was an assault rifle. It was not.

But the strict gun laws are easy to ignore. And only apply to the law-abiding.

In Norway, gun ownership is common and violence is not.

Rule one

All guns are always loaded:

A United Airlines employee was accidentally shot by a passenger who was trying to check a hunting rifle for a flight at Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner.

Obviously, compensating for the size of her penis

Man corners female hotel worker with a knife to her throat. He started to tie her up, for a rape. At which point, she drew her gun and shot him. He died.

Also, the uses the term fought back. We don’t realize that she pulled a heater and introduced his insides to the outside until paragraph four.

Holster Review

Nancy reviews a holster from Dragon Leatherworks.

In Norway

Hero: German tourist rescued 20 teens.

Not that it would have mattered but Norway police rarely go armed.

ATF and guns and Mexico

Perfect storm if idiocy. Or evil.

Nemerov has more on ATF forcing dealers to sell illegally. Is that to inflate numbers? Seriously, is it crazy to speculate that since the simplest explanation for Gunwalker was to make a pitch for more gun control and more funding?

The WaPo stops ignoring the scandal. Issues “nuanced” report called an investigation that tries it’s damnedest to minimize what was happening.

ATF and FBI conspired to sell guns to felons

Getting deeper and deeper:

When asked about the breakdown, Stephen Fischer, a spokesman for the NICS System, said the FBI had no comment. However, an ATF agent who worked on the Fast and Furious investigation, told Fox News that NICS officials called the ATF in Phoenix whenever their suspects tried to buy a gun. That conversation typically led to a green light for the buyers, when it should have stopped them.

Oh, my.

What makes them ‘illegal’?

In Tennessee, guns are not registered.

ATF and guns in Mexico

The LA Times:

As Sen. Charles Grassley and congressional investigators looked into the Fast and Furious operation and the killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, ATF officials took steps to throw them off the trail.

The Norway Shootings

92 dead. Shooting lasted for an hour and a half. Took the police 40 minutes to get there. His weapon was referred to as a ‘machine pistol’. Pundits are already playing the game of pin the convenient political ideology on the nutjob.

Some are blaming gun control.

Calls for gun control, of course.

Neither would have made a difference.

The thing that gets me is that this man shot people for an hour and a half. And the people getting shot didn’t stop him? There were 82 of them. I’m not sure I understand how that could happen.

MRS notes the cultural differences.

Hunting with handguns

Bridging the gap.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

People of your political philosophy should not exist.

Not helping

A few folks who’ve been quite successful tell me that the biggest threat to gun rights are bad lawsuits. They continue to be right:

Leonard Embody Gets Court to Declare Public Parks (!!!!) are “Sensitive Places” under Heller.

I know Leonard is trying to do what he thinks is right. But let’s leave that to the experts.
