Team Erhardt: First Title

First loser is still something to be proud of.

In DC

A shortage of police, so firefighters deployed to protect summer workers. Stop or I’ll douse you?

Also, the shortage and “mountains” of paperwork make getting a gun there difficult.

Fifth amendment: Never heard of it

The Obama administration says it can force you to decrypt your laptop.

Serpa Issues

I’ve heard and mentioned criticism of the Serpa holster in the past. After this video of a guy shooting himself in the leg, Caleb thinks there is something to it.

It’s a recurring theme. I posit that the average member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns is more likely to commit a crime than a carry permit holder.

Blount County Tax Revolt

In The City (My The City) we’re having the same problem other cities are having. Our politicos like to spend our money on their pet projects and other things. But with projected increases in spending, they want to vote to raise taxes. Some locals are starting to notice:

Rather than dealing with our County’s Spending Problem, our Blount County Commissioners voted to increase your property taxes another $3.6 Million dollars.

Update: Background here.

ATF gunrunning

Justice Department tampering with witnesses?

The press lies about the whole thing. The paper of making up the record says we should feel sorry for all those ATF who had to resort to this.

Under the radar gun control effort.

They need someone named “republican candidate”

Because that guy is ahead. Actual Republicans, not so much.

Democrats to introduce gun control tomorrow

Katie Pavlich:

U.S. Representatives Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) will join other members and a leading law enforcement organization for an event Friday, July 15th, 11:00 a.m. at the House Triangle to introduce the “Stop Gun Trafficking and Strengthen Law Enforcement Act,” which establishes a dedicated firearms trafficking statute to empower law enforcement to keep high-powered firearms out of the hands of dangerous criminals, including Mexican drug cartels.

Does it ban ATF from selling guns to Mexico? See, we gun owners should have to deal with this because ATF let guns go to Mexico where they were used to kill. Makes perfect sense. It’s like it worked according to plan.

Bloomberg money and gun control in Memphis

The Comical Squeal:

Memphis’ $4.8 million will be used to revive areas of the city cut off by highway construction and approach handgun violence as a public health crisis, according to Mayor A C Wharton.

No details on that handgun violence thing, though.

The middleman

Obama: “Gimme your taxes or I’ll take away Grandma’s check”

Sounds good to me. I’ll keep my money and write my own checks to grandma.

In my method, overhead is zero.

Firearms Freedom Act

A gun activist in Montana is looking to test it:

With a homemade .22-caliber rifle he calls the Montana Buckaroo, Gary Marbut dreams of taking down the federal regulatory state.

He’s not planning to fire his gun. Instead, he wants to sell it, free from federal laws requiring him to record transactions, pay license fees and open his business to government inspectors.

I admire the spirit but I think this could be one of those bad lawsuits a few smart people have warned us about.

Shotguns

Regarding yesterday’s zombie shotgun post, Never use a shotgun as your goto zombie weapon.

What’s up with all the weirdness in Arizona? The heat?

About that dual brake shotgun

Linked the pic yesterday. It’s a design by Dreadnaught Industries who do custom Saiga guns.

Alex the owner writes:

That is a pure competition gun, designed and built for the “action shooting” games like International Multi-Gun or USPSA 3-Gun. The mid-barrel compensators cover a series of small ports that introduce gas into a larger chamber with either angled vents or internal baffles in order to reduce muzzle movement. Testing at Dreadnaught led us to believe that the combination of angled ports and a mid-barrel compensator reduced perceived recoil by about half. Jim, a great guy and talented gunsmith over at Firebird Precision, builds a heavily raked single chamber design (usually employed in pairs) that also works well and looks rather sporty!

Indeed, it does look sporty.

Project Gunrunner tied directly to Obama. Sure it is. But not Fast and Furious, that we know of.

Fast and Furious, however, is actually linked to some higher ups.

And any doubt that this program was designed to promote gun control has now been removed:

Can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same FfL and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks Mark R. Chait Assistant Director Field Operations.

Shutdown

The Minnesota government has been shut down a few weeks. No one noticed until the beer licenses stopped. A possible due process violation?

Miniature firearms

Pretty cool: A do-it-yourself enthusiast from Chita in Siberia, Alexander Perfilyev, has been handcrafting miniature replicas of firearms and other weapons for over 30 years.

Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

EDWARD MCCLELLAND: The only way to prevent this sort of thing from happening again is to track the weapon back to the gun manufacturer, then burn its factory to the ground.

So much stupid, right there.
