Looks like the local police are gambling that they won’t be sued over their rather unusual “actions under color of authority” so I say seize their offices in the next election.
I think to keep these little police fiefdoms richer, and cherry picking the perpetrators of these ‘crimes’ that the money should be put in a pot for community use. Like education, libraries, etc. If these are crimes against the people/community, let the people get benefit of the ill-gotten gains.
Gambling does pay off then, when you can find it. Every time, Baby! So long as you’re a cop.
Yeah; we don’t want anyone competing with the state lotteries and the indian tribes, so we HAVE to clamp down on gambling. Gambling is bad, don’t you know.

“If we say gambling occurred, regardless of whether we prosecute a specific person, we can seize the property and the money.”
So what is the difference between these guys and common thieves?
I say your property is mine. Therefore it is.

It’s always about the money. Hell of a way to justify your expensive swat team and shore up a diminishing budget.

Nah, that is what they put in the department’s coffers. I’m sure they pocketed much more.
