The Chauchat was the worst machine gun of all time. That much suck has to tie-in with Obama somehow.

My grandfather, while not a gunnie, was in ROTC in college in the 1920’s. He recalled to me that while they had 1911’s, they also had French 75mm guns and were drilled on the Chauchat. The Chauchat was notorious for FTF/FTE in his recollection, and that his instructor was rather colorful in his dislike of it. He much preferred the BAR and had fond memories of it.

The .30-06 version was terrible, the 8mm Lebel version was simply sub-par (as in, could have been much better, but usually worked okay).
