I must try this

I have a couple of 1-4x scopes and, though I’ve not converted completely yet, I’m tempted. But Bushnell’s new 1-6.5x scope looks pretty darn handy.

With the eyes getting older, I’ve had a bit of an issue with sometimes finding the front sight.
I put a Simmons 1.5-5 and it really did improve my shooting

I have a Nikon M223 1-4x on my AR now. I like it a lot. I’m not that old but I’m nearsighted enough that I just don’t have the depth of field for rifle irons.

I shot my AR-15 with a 1.5x–4.5x Bushnell Banner ($89) for quite a while, before going to the Aimpoint. On 1.5x or 2x it worked close in, both eyes open; at longer out, that extra magnification came in handy.

Bushnell has always interested me. Decent prices, product reviews seem favorable, and products that look good. Might just have to get one of these and build an AR around it.

Article didn’t say, but may I presume that scope has a mil-dot reticule? If so, with it’s 25mm front end (the mounts won’t handle a 40mm objective lens), it’s perfect for my Savage 99, and will get me the extra 200 yards I’ve been trying for with that .308. At Boomershoot, I had some success with my old Weaver K-4 at 385 yds, but since the crosshairs cover 1 MOA, and there is insufficient parallax adjustment for MY old eyes, the K-4 is now hopeless on anything past 250 for me.

I will go, forthwith, to my gun shop, and with the K-4 along for comparison, check out the Bushnell.

I love the Savage, but it has been somewhat of a second banana to my WIN 70 in .243 with Nikon 3X9 BDC scope since Boomershoot taught me what I can and can’t do at long range.

I have problems mounting most scopes, including the on-loan Swaro 1-6. Can’t get them low enough so that when I go prone I don’t have to lift my head off the stock and lose the scope “eyebox” which gets smaller the higher the magnification. Built a temp cheek pad but the charging handle hit it so had to rip that off. Sigh. Love the Swaro’s glass, shot targets at Benning well after sunset – couldn’t see them with the naked eye. Going back to my beloved EoTech. Excellent out to 200 yards, hit an 18 x 24 plate at 500 yds last night while trying to figure out the right dot to use for distance. Not good for hunting, but just fine for 3-gun.

I am a Bushnell convert. I bought an Elite 6500 4.5-30×50 w/ Mil-Dots (BSN ET4305) for my F-Class rifle and most recently an Elite Tactical 10×40 (ET1040) w/ mil-dots. Both are exceptional. The quality on the 6500 is as nice as any scope I have handled. While it may not have the pedigree of a $3000 USO or NF it doesn’t have the sticker-shock either. Both are “Made in Japan” by L.O.W. (Light Optic Works). The Elite Tactical 10×40 was purchased from SWFA.com for $129 and included rings! It sells for $257 at Amazon and doesn’t include rings. SWFA sales are hard to beat.

Apparently they aren’t for sale yet, but the other Elite 6500 series are going for about $700 up to almost a thousand. I find the 1-6.5 on Bushnell’s web site, but (and damn, I hate this) no MSRP. Why do so many manufacturers do that? They want to tell us about their products, but not really.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
