We need to end the war on drugs while we still have some civil liberties that aren’t being infringed.

Those 15 for terrorism related investigations are likely much, much more “interesting” than the others, as well.

The PATRIOT Act was indeed largely a wish list of Federal LEO that had been kicking around various administrations for a decade at least.

Convictions for drug$ and fraud produce revenue; terrorism, not so much.

Is there a statute of limitations on how long afterwards? Because The DOJ is still “thinking about” issuing 2,000 warrants for all of the guns they gave away.

To whoever did this graph, congratulations for using a zero origin.

So, over the course of three years they sneak-and-peaked the arsenals (2-3 guns) of 15 Ron Paulians (domestic terrorists) based upon ex-wife tips.

I’m a career cop but the Patriot Act and “Department of Homeland Security” have worried me from day one. I keep getting visions of men in black leather trenchcoats with german accents saying “give me your papers” every time I hear them.

Mike V,
Think TSA. Then remember that the Obama Administration is expanding the TSA’s role.

Delayed-notice search warrants are nothing new. Judges around the country have been issuing them for decades in circumstances where there are important reasons not t o provide immediate notice that a search has been conducted . Such warrants have been squarely upheld by courts nationwide in a variety of contexts — from drug traffickin g investigations to child pornography cases.”
“The number of delayed-notice search warrants spiked nationally from nearly 700 in fiscal year 2007 to approaching close to 2,000 in 2009.”

I messed up my code in the previous comment. Don’t see a way to edit, though.

ICE agents are used for much more than Immigrations and Customs cases now. They were hired by the TSA but the terrorism business must not keep them busy enough so they get pulled in to investigate child porn and drugs. Defunding the TSA would stop a lot of the overreach.

I believe the “Patriot” Act contains a provision allowing the President to declare a national emergency and thereby postpone general elections.

IIRC the core of the Patriot act was written by Sen. Joe Biden, long before 9-11. I don’t recall, but suspect it failed to get under Pres. Clinton’s signature, and was not meant for Pres. Bush 43.

Please post more misleading infographics. Delayed notice search warrants have been used for decades for drug cases. Let’s not let that load of cocaine on the streets AND ruin the case against the suppliers.
