Man jumps through hoops to register guns before moving to Massachusetts. Doesn’t take into consideration his magazines are banned there. Winds up with a year in jail over a piece of metal.

It’s a stupid law, yes. It should never have been introduced, yes. Extending it in MA – Thank you Mitt Romney – was also stupid. It’s pointless, does nothing to deter crime, and serves only to trip up the law-abiding, not put criminals in jail.
But it’s still the law of the land. Should it be changed? Hell yes. Is it unconstitutional? Most likely. Do we ignore it at our own peril? Sadly, yes.
He’s lucky he only got a year – the proscribed penalty is 2.5…

Sounds like a good reason not to move there or at least not register the weapons you have when you move there.

I’ll keep this one as yet another reference when my family asks when I’m moving back. Never, ever, ever.

More like, 1+ yr in jail for a slightly longer spring (and a metal stop).

Convicted of a “crime” carrying a penalty of over one year: Barred from owning firearms for the rest of his life.
That smells like something that came out of the south end of a north bound moose.

Wow. with a law like that, what happens if someone out of state mistakenly sends a post 1994 30 round mag to a MA resident as a Christmas gift? Have both parties broken the law, or just the poor slob that receives the gift ?

This is why Romney will not get my vote during the primary season.

Re: HiddenHills;
Reckon we can all ship one to each legislator? That would get the inane law point across.

Seems kind of lame to put anyone in jail for owning a simple device that shares technology with a PEZ candy dispenser.
