Gun Blogger Rendezvous
I couldn’t swing it this year with work deadlines. But others made it and here’s a round up of stuff:
Bloomberg reporter attended the event. Pushing a book? And he had trouble getting a handgun in NY. Of course you did, that’s why they have those rules. Regardless, there’s this:
The bigger story, again paraphrasing my discussions with Barrett, is that the anti-gun people biggest successes were the seeds of their failure.
That is actually pretty brilliant. And true.

Hello, Say Uncle blog. I am the Bloomberg Businessweek writer who was pushing his forthcoming book (GLOCK: The Rise of America’s Gun) at the recent Gun Blogger Rendezvous. I invite you and other gun bloggers to take a look at the book, review it, debate it, what have you. The book is a narrative history of Glock: the man, the pistol, the company, the cultural icon. I immodestly believe that it will be of great interest to all gun enthusiasts, as it offers a behind-the-scenes perspective on an industry leader not previously available. Readers will also find that my analysis of the gun in American society avoids the standard “pro” and “con” debate in favor of a dispassionate assessment of the role of firearms in American culture and commerce. In any event, please send me an email if you’d like a review copy of the galley — with a US mail address — and I will have my publisher send you one. All I ask is that, if you find it worthy, you give the book some attention. Thanks and best, Paul Barrett pmb32861@yahoo.com
