Layers of editorial oversight
The agency says its agents were on patrol in Fronton, a rural area about 250 miles south of San Antonio Tuesday when they found a black bag hidden in the brush near the river. Inside there were six assault rifles, one grenade launcher, one rocket launcher, 20 ammunition magazines and three packages of what appeared to be the plastic explosive known as C-4.
Then, more OMG:
Weapons purchased in the U.S. are commonly smuggled to criminal organizations in Mexico.
And where, oh where, can one go buy grenade launchers, rocket launchers and C-4? I’ve never been to that store.

Crossroads of the West is the bomb, dude. You should check it out. Although C-4? The only thing they had at the Orange County Fairgrounds show was Semtex.
A disappointment, for sure, but I grabbed some anyway. You never know.

To be fair they never said those items were purchased in the US. So basically they intentionally wrote a misleading article as opposed to just being ignorant. I’d consider that worse actually.

You get your C-4 and your Grenade Launchers from the same Agency that gives away Free AK-47’s, silly. Sheesh! “Are you the only one who didn’t get a Free Gun from the ATF?” (H/T to Sean D.)

Great. The Cartels are smuggling that stuff into Texas, and the media are trying to blame ME by saying that these are going into Mexico.

Uh huh, somehow I think the story may be a bit manufactured. A couple BP agents find a fun bag like that and odds are it doesnt get an incident write up 🙂
Even if a couple good guys actually do make the report, it only goes to the press if they want it going to the press.
