Listening ears
Some grief given by me and others to the press over their account of the the IHOP shooter using an automatic weapon. Not sure, but sounds like it could have been. See video at about 1:15.

Easily answered. Have the State Crime Lab detail strip the weapon and tell us, which should have been done by now.
Unless, of course the serial numbers say the AK came from Project Fast and Furious?
Which might explain why the Antis aren’t having a Press Conference over the results?
Bottom Line: It either was a Factory Full Auto, or a Homemade Trigger Job or a Semi. But we should have heard by now, so why the delay?

Why would the Antis want to draw attention to the fact that it is full auto? The strategy to date has been to completely obfuscate the issue in order to convince The Voting Moron that all “assault weapons” are full auto machine guns.
The only people who want to know if it was full auto would be the 2A crowd. If it was full auto, that would be good for rights, because it would be an illegal weapon (modified or smuggled).

That was a semi.

could be bump fired. I’ve seen guys shoot Ak clones pretty dam fast bump firing them.

I cut loose a mag from an AR once in about ten seconds on a friend’s farm. He told me his neighbor had asked him if it was full auto.

It could be just rapid fire.
This guy is shooting a semi-auto.(link to youtube)

That has to be the slowest firing full auto I have ever heard… Unless he was jumping between full auto and semi auto a whole lot.. You can hear the individual shots in a row…

Maybe he took lessons from Jerry Miculek:

Not full auto… trust me

I know after years of fast paintball playing (dont laugh, multi stage triggers require some couple thousand rounds of practice to keep from short stroking) my trigger finger is fairly fast on a semi-auto. I can empty most rifles and pistols before you can say “wow, that was short”.

I’m going to throw in and say no. There is also a lot of background noise in there that seems to be making it seem like there is a constant stream of sound. There are individual shots for sure and I didn’t hear anything that still couldn’t be done with a semi and a quick finger.

It is hard to tell from video with the background noise.I think it is rapid fire with a semi auto.

Reverberations might also add “extra shots”… Depends on the physical shape and locations of buildings, walls etc. I wouldn’t be able to draw any conclusions from that abysmal audio.

The audio quality is terrible. I don’t think it’s possible to determine the rate of fire from the audio.
