Or, you know…just donate to the SAF directly and throw out the stupid United Way form, like I do.

I attended the mandatory UW meeting the first year I was employed at my current job. I tore up my convenient pre-filled in form during the presentation. The presenter/UW rep/company accountant asked after the meeting if I had a problem with The United Way.
I told him “No. I have a problem with extortion.”
They still print out the form for me, but I no longer have to attend the meeting. Or donate.
So I got that going for me.

I didn’t know that this form of institutionalized thuggery was still practiced.
Back in the day, we used to have that drive at my sheriff’s Office. One year, there was a home for unwed mothers on the list, and it achieved an 88% donation rate from the Deputy Sheriffs.
