I tried it on my DSA upper and Stag arms lower with a JP rifles spring kit and a CMMG .22 conversion kit with CMMG mags.
Ammo was Agulia Supermaximum and CCI Velocitors
No dice.
I think that you need a dedicated .22lr which is lighter than the lightest 5.56 rifle with a conversion kit. I think the MP-15-22 weighs in around 1-2 lbs lighter than a standard AR
I also thought of replacing the buffer spring with a wooden dowel so that the spring would not absorb any recoil (in .22 only). I havent tried that yet.
It works awesome on my 9mm AR15. I’ve just been using that caliber instead of burning up all my 5.56.
I have a slidefire and an MP15-22. Unless you either modify either the “buffer tube” on the MP or modify the Slide fire, it won’t even fit the firearm.
The “buffer tube” on the MP 1522 is just a molded part of the lower. They are all one piece that cannot be replaced easily like the buffer tube on an actual AR.
Now with that said, I have a Spikes Tactical AR chambered in 5.45 with the slidefire attached. Now that is good, fun, cheap shooting!
Would you mind measuring the diameter of the buffer tube for me? I see the S&W has a bunch of different versions of the gun with different stocks. I wonder if the buffer tube is different on guns that come with an aftermarket stock (MOE or Vltor) from the factory.

Looks like you have to slightly modify the slidefire stock to get it to work with the M&P15-22.

Oh and the guy here who tested all the different ammo put a 3lb timmeny trigger in his gun.

Still for $375 (gun) +$125 (trigger) +$350 (stock) for a F/A .22LR is a gigantic STEAL.
