I couldn’t get the link to work.What I find funny is I don’t think there was much media attention given to this incident.Which was a good thing.Some media outlets I’m sure would have turned the facts.
An article that says you need an FFL to modify a rifle to a machinegun is not one I’m likely to listen to about details.
You don’t need a damn FFL (federal firearms license, per the article) to make or own NFA items. Due to the nice Hughs amendment, you do need to be an SOT to make machineguns.
But a tax stamp is not an FFL, and while you generally need an FFL to be an SOT, they aren’t the same thing either.
So maybe it’s a machinegun, maybe it’s not. But they sure don’t have a good grasp of the laws they are talking about.
