Seen in the wild

While driving through The City (My The City), I saw a Nissan LEAF:

Here, I thought they were mythological, like unicorns given Glenn’s difficulty getting one.

I’ve seen ONE Volt in the wild.

  2. adam Says:

I’ve seen ONE Volt as well (in NJ of all places), and a handful of Leafs (Leaves?). I assume since the Nissan HQ is in middle TN, that there are more here than elsewhere.

If Glenn is still wanting one, he might try Nissan of Nashville as they have 3x in stock at the moment. Too bad he can’t drive it all the way home the same day…

  3. Weer'd Beard Says:

Bet I’ll never see one here in the snowy north. How do you jumpstart a car that is nothing BUT a jumpstart?

  4. yj Says:

well look at that, somebody’s got electricity in east tennessee!

  5. Bubblehead Les Says:

Meanwhile, Volkswagen Diesels, which get 50+ MPG, don’t get any Tax Breaks, because they use Evil Fossil Fuels.

  6. Edwin Says:

I see like 5-10 leaf’s a day. Finally saw one Volt and that was a surprise to me.

  7. JR Says:

I say a Tesla in the parking lot today. Still haven’t seen a Leaf in the wild yet.

  8. Jamfish Says:

    lotsa Leafs here in Seattle

  9. Diggs Says:

I remember when cars were named after things that went fast, like “Impala” or “Mustang”, because they were powerful and fast. Now they are named after things that become superfluous and die in the cold weather, like “Leaf”.

  10. John Says:

I saw two of them in Austin yesterday.

  11. Reginald Says:

I saw at least a dozen of them yesterday parked outside the Nevada State Institute for The Inappropriately Serene in Carson City.

  12. Teke Says:

There is a leaf that uses the same parking lot downtown.

Everyday it is parked right by the entrance in a makeshift spot that contains one of those chargers.

It’s pretty pitiful if you ask me. Can’t even make it to work and back without a refill.

  13. Noah Nehm Says:

I see on average about two different Leafs a day (I live in San Jose). Tesla Roadsters and Volts I see more rarely: about once a month (although I see more Roadsters than Volts).

  14. Sigivald Says:

I’ve seen a Volt and a Leaf or two.

But I live in Portland, so there’s always a sucker hippie around.

(I’ve also seen a Tesla, but more importantly I regularly see an Elise.)

  15. The Pathetic Earthling Says:

There are at least five Leafs that I see floating around my town on a regular basis. But we’re just east of Berkeley and full of pinkos. And there’s one Volt I see from time to time.

  16. John Jamison Says:

I live in Thousand Oaks, CA outside LA and see them all the time. Still dwarfed in numbers by the millions (at least it seems that way) of Pious’, I meant Prius’

  17. Mark the Zealot Says:

I’ve seen lots of Leafs in the wild, but then I live in Nashville and work about a quarter of a mile away from Nissan North America headquarters. I think I can top everyone here since I have actually seen a Leaf tethered to a charging station at a Whole Foods. I will admit that particular Whole Foods is also a quarter mile from Nissan NA, but still…

  18. Constitution First Says:

I live in Boston and work at MIT, I spy neither Volt nor Leaf. While North-Eastners tend to be Liberally-minded in the extreme, they are anally practical in another. The term “cheapskate”, comes to mind.

  19. Blake Says:

    +1 for YJ!

    East TN has electricity? 🙂

  20. Texpops Says:

I saw Elvis in Dallas the other day.

  21. Mark the Zealot Says:

Update: I just saw a Volt (my first) attached to a charging station at Whole Foods. Does that count as a Daily Double?

  22. liberal gun lover Says:

I saw about 10,000 leafs in my front yard today, If you are looking for a leaf you can take mine but you have to take them all. My back can’t take the raking any more, I may have to go get a gas leaf blower to get rid of them.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
