Drug Take Back

In The City (My The City), a dumb idea where you can take your unused controlled substances and give them to the police. Like gun buy backs, they’re not. They’re not taking anything back since it wasn’t theirs to begin with.

    Thank you!

That’s something that always creeped me out about the “buy backs” was the explicit statement of ownership. It’s the State literally saying that they are the true owner of all those guns (and now drugs) and that they were taking back their rightful property.

For your consideration, The thought in my area on this is it’s better to collect old unused prescriptions rather than merely flushing them down the toilet and eventually contaminating the water supply.

You can toss unused prescriptions into the trash can, and they will reside safely in a landfill in most cases. Or you can toss them into your next camp fire, and maybe at most stay upwind while they burn up.

And not to be too cynical, but what controls are there on the collection personnel to make sure no really interesting turn-ins get diverted to personal use or resale?

And will there be private buyers outside the turn-in site, offering more cash for the drugs than the officials, just like at gun turn-ins?

I bet the homeless would just love some free drugs..

  5. Cargosquid Says:

Can I trade some old drugs for a gun? 🙂

  6. Standard Mischief Says:

The DEA has gotten into the act around here in DC. Rest assured, when you hand over your unused prescription they’ll take care to enter you and your doctor’s names into a database, along with your type of perscription.

If your doctor gets too liberal with the wrong kind of pills, The DEA will be more than happy to throw your doctor in jail too.

Scrape the label off the prescription bottle, seal that lid on tight, wrap with newspaper, and toss it in the trash. Since plastic will survive 10,000 years in the landfill, there is no way it will get in the drinking water supply and grow any three-eye fish.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
