I mean that if you go and look up what comes with the most expensive laptop Apple is currently selling vs. the most expensive laptop, say, Dell is currently selling, the Dell laptop is both more powerful and significantly cheaper.
Now maybe the Apple OS is that much better, but I personally think that’s it’s the computer equivalent of a Manolo Blahnik shoe. You’re really just paying a ton of extra money for the ability to show off how much money you spent.
What pisses me off is that she’s complaining about losing her $5,500 laptop while she’s out there whining protesting about people making more money than her instead of working, yet I’m working full-time and can’t afford even to replace the laptop I have that is slowly dying (the multi-card reader hasn’t worked for the last year or so, the DVD drive has only worked intermittently for the last month or so, and occasionally it takes a half-dozen or restarts before it successfully boots up).
Get a job (or go back to the one you’re skipping out on) and use the money you get paid for your efforts to replace your overpriced computer, you dirty, spoiled, selfish hippy!

Worst part is that the $5,500 doesn’t even get you all that much. You can by a far more powerful PC laptop for about $2,000 less.

If you mean “still in current use”, then I’m the same way. There’s a $2000 (in late 1990s $) desktop currently occupying my attic…

“…far more powerful PC laptop for about $2000 less.”
Maybe, but it would run Windows and that’s a hell I wouldn’t wish on a Brady.

So, someone stole a Mac. Sounds like an opportunity for the remaking of ” Ransom of Red Chief “

Stormy,
I was just replying to Unc’s comment that his computers were under $600.
Of the two computers still in use, one was free, the other was $250… 😀
