Of of the guns was found in the cop’s cruiser four years after it was confiscated. Wanna bet that it was intended to be used as a “drop gun” for planting on the dead body of any unarmed person that he happened to shoot?
Wow, every cop I know has a house full of guns that are divided up after a home confiscation and kept for their personal use. I am very surprised that they convicted one of their own for doing what they all do???…
Urban myth or truth … One of the mid-south states that did not allow out-of-state carry was notorious for police taking guns from off-duty cop tourists who were given the Hobson’s choice of being arrested or giving up their guns.

If there were no cars in the background everyone there plus the buildings would have a late 70’s look..

They do the same thing in Mass, but I suspect its encouraged rather than prosecuted.

Seriously, blounttruth? Or is that just snark?

It’s not snark.
Many less than honest departments ignore cops making seized guns disappear.
This one had the misfortune to have one of his victims report the pistol stolen, so that it got flagged by the feds when it resurfaced.

When some cop claims a firearm is destroyed, have a lawyer demand to know when and where it was done, and who performed the destruction.
And let him know you will file a stolen property report if he can’t provide evidence of its destruction.
