Meh. Unless the investigation shows that someone was stealing the ammo and selling it for personal profit, it’s much ado about nothing. All PDs go through a lot of ammo, and it’s considered expendable by most department supply managers. You have a budget for it, like toilet paper, and you use it up.
The angst here seems to be that someone thinks that ammo ought NOT to be an expendable, and their thinking is clashing with the actual practice which says it is expendable.

As someone who spends a good bit of time in West Tn, though, I will certainly be on the lookout.

I’d want to see receipts and bills of lading from both ammo manufactures and shipping companies. Give you even odds the ammo was never purchased.
