The Republicans don’t want to win. But Romney does or he didn’t get the memo.
Their candidates have mostly sucked. Rumors are the Cain harassment leaks came from folks with Rs after their names. I conclude the leadership doesn’t want to win. As to why, I’m guessing they don’t want to be the ones in charge for the next four years while we get our Greece on.
Yeah, it’s stupid but it’s the only thing that makes this all make sense. Anyone but the folks running can beat Obama.

I’m certainly bracing for four more years.

I am afraid that the die is cast. We have crossed The Rubicon. The money that he been printed is out there, massive inflation is coming, and it really doesn’t matter who is in charge for the next several years.
Of course whenever I think that way, someone reminds me of Federal Court Nominations, but still.
There is some merit to the thought that it is undesirable to be named the new captain of a sinking ship.

Correction: The money that “has” been printed.

I think you’re pretty much on the money.
November 9th, 2011 at 12:02 pm
Gee, what gave you such a CRAZY idea?
The fact that the Republicans are about to nominate the guy (Romney) who lost to the guy (McCain) who lost to Obama last time around?
There is one thing you can never take away from the Stupid Party(TM): they know how to lose with charm and grace.
Just remember this, folks, when Obama stacks the Supreme Court with several more Justices and Heller gets overturned in a few years’ time. When the going got tough, the Repubs ran for cover to protect their miserable political hides.

I think that the Repubs are deserting a sinking ship as well. The U.S. is done. It’s all over but the killing and eating. I just hope we have the ‘nads to never let another government take root in this country. Governments are always corrupt. Always.

…and Heller gets overturned… –Mike
“The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.” -Thomas Jefferson
“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”-Thomas Jefferson
But then the government has been incrementally violating the 2nd Amendment for a long time. The Federal Government may according to its “delegated powers” only “govern such part of the militia which is EMPLOYED by it” (Article I, Section 8.16) Therefore all gun control laws which it applies to “the people” are UNCONSTITUTIONAL, UNLAWFUL and TYRANNICAL.

Caesar crossed the Rubicon on Jan 10, 49 BC. On March 15 of 44, he et-tu’ed. Sounds like a second-term joke to me. “I’d watch what I was sayin’ if I wuz you.”

Unc, it happens all the time. Pol takes a hit from his own team during the primaries.
Bush senior came up with “voodoo economics” during the primaries to describe Reagan’s supply-side economics.
Hillary was the one who asked if Obama was ready to take the 3:00 am call.
One of the slams on Gore – maybe “I invented the Internet” – was from a Dem opponent in the primaries.

I will not vote for Romney under any circumstances.
An awful GOP President will serve to destroy the conservative movement which won so handily in 2010 (think of the Bush-Rove machine in 2004, 2006 and 2008, and the resulting Speaker Pelosi).
I think that high inflation will be here a lot sooner than most people think (although a good bit of our electorate doesn’t think past the next episode of Dancing with the Stars or 2 1/2 Men).
I am old enough to vividly the rampant inflation of the 1970s and early 1980s (before Paul Volker’s strict monetary policies dramatically reduced it).

After the Debacle up here in Ohio yesterday, the Republitards have once again proven to me that they only know how to form Circular Firing Squads.
November 9th, 2011 at 3:36 pm
I’m still rooting for Ron Paul, although to be honest he isn’t really a Republican.
November 9th, 2011 at 4:48 pm
All the more reason to love him, fucema.
I actually did a write-in vote in our mayoral election last night, because the 2 candidates in the run-off were so deplorable.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:41 pm
Thomas Jefferson never said that.
November 9th, 2011 at 6:21 pm
To the best of our knowledge, Jefferson never even saw the Rubicon, and Iphigenia was never in Brooklyn either.

Sometimes i think we need to remind some elected officials that they DON’T get Secret Service protection.

if it’s stupid and it works, it isn’t stupid.

Jefferson may have made many interesting statements while shitfaced at Versailles.

Generally speaking, candidates with good odds don’t run on the years with an incumbent in the race. 2012 is 2004 in the mirror.
