If stinger missiles were the same price per round I’d use those instead. There is a reason 9mm is cheaper than .45 and I don’t see it changing any time soon.
When I first started shooting, I moved from a Ruger Mark II pistol to a 38SPL revolver, because the revolver was a used police issue sold for about $150. Ammo for the 22LR was $5 for a brick of 500, and ammo for the 38SPL was about $5 for a box of 50.
I next moved up to a Glock 19 pistol around the turn of the centuries, thinking something new was due, because at the start of the first decade of this century, 9mm Glocks had been around two decades and were reputed to be somewhat reliable. Factory new ammo, in aluminum non-reloadable cases, was $3.96 per 50, and ~$18 for a box of 250 Remington brass case. 45ACP was about 50% more expensive.
Now I know Glock 19s are harder to shoot well than 45ACPs, or Glock 17s, but I practiced and practiced and in about 5 years thought I was shooting OK with the 9mm Glock 19. Oddly enough, learning to handle the snappy short barrel recoil and 2×4 grip made me a better shot whenever I borrowed or rented a 45ACP.
9mm ammo is now cost prohibitive to shoot 250 rounds in a range session, so I am back shooting 22LR.

9mm vs 45 acp? Did I just wake up in 1985?
If I did, can I have my 20 year old body back?
