I have some concerns with this. I have NO concerns with the intent of the bill BUT I do have concerns about where congress thinks they get the authority for it. I think the individual mandate in Obamacare is outside the scope of congress authority, therefore if congress is using Commerce Clause power as the justification for this law I think it’s a no no. If however this the thought is that the 2nd amendment already grants this right AND this is under incorporation doctrine of the 14th amendment I’m thrilled.
Anyone know why Michele Bachmann – who by the way is running for president I hear – declined to vote either way on this bill? I checked her website out for the first time, and except for an ad for her book, it seemed a little light on the substance of a campaign, like policy positions and past records.
Let’s see just how this is handled by the “pro-gun” Senator, Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Anyone want to bet there aren’t more pressing issues of concern to the nation this term, all of which will leave no time for consideration in committee for any Senate bill? If this gets out of committee, which I doubt will happen, look for it to die a slow death through lack of leadership interest.
Then we can wonder what the President will do regarding a veto, under the radar, for gun controllers.

Did it pass cleanly, with no riders attached to it?
