ACLU Blog: The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world.

Without rule of law.

Who ARE these people?

There is apparently more to this story.
There are some that believe the Udall amendment the ACLU is asking for would actually make it worse.
I haven’t looked into it enough yet, but I think it’s worth noting at least.

Um, yeah, the POTUS already has reserved the right to execute American citizens sans trial with hardly a whimper from the electorate. So at this point, we’re not really talking about avoiding the crash, we’re just quibbling about the terminal velocity.

We need to get a peek at the on-the-shelf plans NorthCom has. When this Army unit was organized, there were strong hints that it was to be given an anti-citizen mission. Then the furor over that seemed to die down.
Is this an attempt to encode into Federal Law what might already be on the plans shelf at NorthCom?
Why haven’t any patriotic Army officers who were members of NorthCom units come forward and gone public with the info?
If this Federal encoding is merely frosting on the cake of a standing NorthCom plan, we need to know that. If NorthCom doesn’t HAVE any such plans, we need to know THAT.

The stink is over §1031 and 1032. The White House believes that recodifying the exemptions for citizens and legal aliens would be confusing as these are codified elsewhere.
Not saying that this is right, just stating what the fuss is about.

Bullcrap.
The ACLU is still butthurt that US citizens that join AQ are treated like the enemy combatants they have made themselves into.
The Senate does not need to be passing this … these matters were settled in WWII, when US citizens who joined the enemy got blown up like all the other enemy soldiers … and got tried for treason if they surrendered.
